Mertz, Pearsall, Etienne couldn't put humpty together again

Those are three very fine football players, but going for it on 4th down from your own 31 early in the game only down by 7, not a good call, but the worst part, get this, they were inches from the line to gain, Billy calls some dumb shite with a direct snap to Etienne who then appears to be trying to make a forward pass before he's blown up, so UF turns it over on downs, giving UGA a quick and easy score to go down 14, that was the beginning of the snowball. And that wasn't the players' fault. That was 100% shitty coaching. It's early, the game isn't out of hand, just punt it and make UGA drive. But no. Some mickey mouse trick play 4th down bullshite.
Part of me is rubbing it in, but part of me is legitimately scratching my head why Billy would do stupid shite like this.

Scared money don't--Aw, shucks that's just Billy. But seriously, he just doesn't seem to have a great feel for playcalling. He's got to give up the reins this off-season.

Honestly I don't really hate the actual play itself. In the last ~2 years, how many times do we see a QB in the gun pretending to make a call or something, then sprint up to the line and quickly plunge forward for a yard? Countless. It happens every weekend. So to play off that and give it to a back, who then has a pass option...I kinda sorta don't dislike that play on its own.
HOWEVEEERRRRRRR.....every single other aspect of how it was deployed was criminally negligent. Early in the game in a 1 score game. On your own fricking 30? Against the best defense in the league? I mean it was coaching malpractice. That's a play you run when it's 2nd and goal from the 2 a few minutes before halftime or something. Not then, and not there.

I don't mind the call to go for it.
He couldn't beat UGA straight up. He needed breaks to fall his way.
That one didnt.
Florida fans can chime in and advise how they got their fourth down conversion (they are now 1 for 6). I'm guessing the mush rush and running up the middle isn't very successful for them so instead of "insanity", they tried something new.

if the refs were a bunch of frick ups, that 4th down play wouldn't have had to happen.
