And what the referee described is disputed by the video evidence. Guy is a liar, and he knows it.

the ref reached out to help him up. The ref did not touch him. The player got up and grabbed both wrists and pushed them back. Yes it was ticky tack call but the player could have used better discretion himself by the way he handled things. When anyone reaches out with their hand to help you up it is a good thing to accept.

The ref was standing over him and reaching for the football (which he didn't have).

The ref wasn't being kind and trying to help. He was being an idiot for 2 reasons.... he was standing on top of snell (give the kid some space to get up) and snell didn't have the ball.

You don't help a player up by straddling him and offering 2 hands.

The ref is a douche. Unfortunately for the ref, his life will be miserable for the next several months. He's "that guy"

I don't understand why everyone is upset.

I was on the road listening on XM, and the Northwestern announcers said it was an obvious infraction, so there you go. Said everyone knows you can't touch an official in any sport.

They wouldn't be biased.

He could have. He's also a kid playing his last college football game. That ref is a grown arse man acting like a child. frick that ref. He spent the entire game trying to frick Kentucky over.

Unpopular opinion but I agree. The ref was not offering help. They don’t do that. He was reaching for the ball. The player should have tried to move or just nicely brushed by. Grabbing the refs arms and shoving them is an infraction worthy of ejection. I hate that it happened too. Ref should have waited a second for him to get out of the way.

Snell was angry that he had been hit and driven back by about five NW players that continued driving him back and down to the turf well after the whistle had blown. There should have been an unnecessary roughness penalty on NW.

Snell had every right to be pissed and he really did nothing more than push the refs hands away. The refs were an abomination the entire game. Surprised that Stoops was able to remain as calm as he was.

I have another take on this and I'm surprised no one has brought it up. Snell was on the ground surrounded by more than a couple Northwestern players...look at the video clip dearly on. It is quite possible with so many NW players close to him that Snell maybe didn't even noticed that it was a ref reaching down to him...as he might have thought it was a NW player after being pushed back 5 yds and he was just waving his hand because he didn't want help getting up.

He didn't grab the ref...he simply tried to wave off help in any event. Pac 12 sucks donkey tails and their refs do too. They don't understand passionate southern football at all. Go a Pac 12 game and you can normally to someone 2 seats away...its that quiet.

Just imagine a Pac 12 ref doing this to Hurts during a CFP game. Ole Bama fan Pinche wouldnt be talking down about liberals I bet. This isn't about social beliefs dumb butt. That ref should never officiate another bowl game with SEC team in it.

Maybe if you tried to read the OP without your sniveling bullshite, you'd know he was not trivializing rape, but the pussification of a great sport.

You cheat, you lose.

Sorry UK. It’s basketball season though. You’ll get the calls there to make up for it.

I have seen the play from three angles:

1. The ref did reach out and touch Snell on Snell's left shoulder with his right hand, his left hand is reaching for Snell's left shoulder when Snell reacts.

2. The referee is clearly near standing over Snell, giving Snell almost zero room to stand up.

3. The ref is not reaching for the football.

The referee is at fault and compounded his mistake it by making the call.

The no call on a personal foul for a late hit, was correct.

This. The ref didn't grab Snell, didn't touch him....simply put his hand out to help him up. Snell reaches up, grabs ref with both hands, and shoves him off. You see refs reach out to help a player up all the time and players don't act like little bitches like Snell did.
