Sorry but it is hard to believe this isn't just performative. You think he was seriously going to advertise every team in the NFL that might draft him that he is just in it for the money? Of course not.

I didn't say the NIL wasn't having an impact. But the transfer portal is doing more damage. Having the NIL allows kids to be paid; that's it. It doesn't allow for a team to lose half a recruiting class due to transfers one year after recruiting them. If you didn't have the transfer portal, the kids couldn't just leave on a whim. No way the NIL is doing as much damage to college football as the portal. Not even close.

How do you pick a winner? No one knows their worth in NIL money until they step into the portal. You can't regulate greed in this environment. One facet of human nature that will never change in commerce, you must protect people from themselves. Having zero economic guardrails will not end well. I have 6000 years of evidence on my side.

Nope, Texas invented school pride. Every other college is just pretending to college.

He got to play for the team he loved, his coaches supported him and put him in a position to succeed, he was well paid and well treated. SCOTUS said these athlete / entertainers who put their bodies and minds on the line for their teams deserve to be paid for their NIL.

Whether it’s a pro player with a pro team, or an employee with a corporation, people become more loyal when they are treated well.

So what’s wrong with that?

The harder something is to come by - the prouder you are of it. Go hang around Vandy grads. Are they athletically competitive? No. Are they proud of their school? Yes.

Texas has both.

Strawman. I didn't say nor imply there is anything wrong with that. Just doubtful in this day and age.

Sorry but seeing all of these kids make posts on social media how they are 100% committed and pump up their team and then jump at the chance to go to a team that hands them the bigger NIL deal makes the loyalty angle seem dubious. It's obvious that the vast majority only make posts like that to put out the best image. It is pretty easy to be loyal to a program that is at the top of the NIL food chain and will not get outbid on a guy like Barron. If Texas was at the bottom in terms of financials, are you that confident he wouldn't have left if another team came with a better deal that Texas couldn't match. It is really easy to imagine a Texas player is loyal when they will never have that loyalty tested like a player from a program without even close to the financial backing that Texas has.
Maybe he is very loyal to Texas but was that loyalty every realistically tested? Was Texas ever in danger of being outbid for his services. Doubtful.

Osu won a title with a 20 million dollar roster. NIL has ALREADY ruined college football

This is why I question you about ever attending UT Austin. Everyone who is a Texas Ex member knows there is no hyphen...

Expanded playoffs has already completely ruined it.

The quarterfinal matchup would strongly suggest that nothing changed. Please, get back to me when they do.

Perhaps you haven’t seen Tyran Mathieu, OBJ, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson and Malik Nabers lately? They are Louisiana born and bred and represent the state and LSU any chance they get. Hell, Nabers played in a meaningless bowl game just to sit atop the charts at LSU for receiving. All the while months away from being a top 10 overall pick in the NFL. OBJ was throwing money at the players after the 2019 title game. Texas if anything needs to catch up with Louisiana for state and school pride. The vast, vast majority of players in Louisiana grow up wanting to play for LSU. The same can’t be said for Texas. Especially with A&M, SMU, TCU, Baylor, Tech and other power 4 schools in the state.
