Not saying he was guaranteed the job but hard to believe he would be going there without being convinced that there's a pretty good chance he'd be the starter.
I know King didn’t play this season, but that kid is athletic, fast, gives you the duel threat, mond had a lot of designed runs, can Max run? I don’t think you guys asked to do so much

Wanted Max to run a little more, but he hardly ever did.

He seemed quite capable when he did, no? What’s his story mobility-wise?

Average mobility. Bigger issue was he never seemed to have the pocket presence to know when to take off.

I don't understand why Jimbo goes after so many dual threat guys when his system is based more around a traditional drop back pro style passer.
Seems counterproductive, especially since he doesn't seem to utilize the quarterback's legs much.

DT QB can make up for deficiencies on the OL.

True but his offense doesn't maximize the skills of a dual threat quarterback and they usually end up struggling in it more often than not.
Of the three quarterbacks on LSU's roster, Max was probably the worst fit for Jimbo's offense. They should've came after Brennan.

I don’t know how Jimbo got this big reputation for developing great QB’s anyway. The best QB he has coached is J Winston when he was at FSU and Winston has been a total disaster in the NFL. He wasn’t really that great at FSU honestly. He just played in a really weak ACC and it made him look better than he was. Years and years ago Jimbo might have had a QB or 2 that was good in college and went on to have a great NFL career but since he has been head coach at least he hasn’t really produced any great QB’s. I just don’t know how Jimbo picked up this rep for being a great offensive mind that develops great QB’s because I have not seen it.

He made both EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder 1st round picks.
He got Kellen Mond drafted...at all.

Is this a joke?
He threw for 8k yards and 65 TDs in 2 years.
He went 27-1

King on paper is better than Max. We shall see how that pans out

There’s no better place than the Aggies for someone named Max Johnson. If Anus Smith comes back that will be a hall of fame Aggie connection.

The improvement Mond made in his 1st year under Jimbo is unlike anything I have ever seen. And he developed Mond into a 3rd round pick. Pretty amazing.
Before Jimbo we had 5 star QBs like Reggie McNeal getting drafted in the 7th round as WRs.
