Richt has his faults but 118-40 overall playing in the SEC(eight MNC's) the last 12 years ain't too shabby.

He needs one & the UGA fans want one...

Who IYO could UGA realistically hire who is better than CMR, would leave his current school & bring a MNC to Athens??

Opinion's are like assholes but the Saban's, Miles & Meyers are rare...

Supposedly Gruden is highly thought of.

But in all seriousness, UGA could try to land a Peterson or Patterson or some other up and comer. They may end up doing worse that Richt, but they might not. I think that if UGA truly wants to play for NCs, then they are going to have to take a risk on someone else, because Richt has reached his ceiling (and been there for quite sometime).

Don't want Gruden... Peterson or Patterson would be home run hires. Those are honestly the only 2 I would consider right now over Richt...

But how do you hire a up & comer to replace an established 10 win a season coach with Richt's resume?...

If he was fired after '10 I could see it, lotta people were calling for his head but there were extenuating circumstances . Richt had issues in '09 (Joe Cox at QB & hella schedule went 8-5) & '10 (Murray's RSFr 1st season, AJ Green out for 4 games & the 1st year of Grantham's 3-4 D went 6-7). Seems Richt has righted the ship, he might not win another SECC or the MNC but the program is pretty stable right now...

I agree, which is why I said his seat was cool. I just said that I would like it to stay that way, because I don't think that Richt can take them to the next level.

Don't get me wrong. Winning 8 to 10 games a year is pretty darn good. But with the resources that UGA has, there is no reason why they should be able to pull off a Bama or UF (or even a LSU) type of championship run.

So are we having this same discussion if that ball wasn't tipped?

While I think Richt is not the guy to get it done despite how close he got back in December, the question you have to ask yourself is: "Who else is Georgia going to get?"

I don't know because the ball was tipped.

All I do know is that whether or not we are having this discussion shouldn't have to come down to one play of one game in one season. They should be competing for NCs in more than just one season.

Seems like people think UGA wins 8 games a year & 10 games every few years....

'01...8-4 David Greens Fr year
'02...13-1 SECC
'03...11-3 SECEC
'04...10-2
'05...10-3 SECC
'06...9-4 Stafford's Fr year
'07...11-2
'08...10-3
'09...8-5 Joe Cox only year
'10...6-7 Murray's Fr year, AJ misses 4 games, UGA switches from 4-3 to 3-4
'11...10-4 SECEC
'12...12-2 SECEC

Maybe it's good for the rest of the SEC cause he can't win the big one(whatever that means) but how the frick do you fire a guy with these #'s??

If we were gonna do it we missed our chance after the '10 season...

In 2002, Ohio State had a horseshoe stuck up their arse

In 2007, the BCS royally fricked everything up

If you were the AD would you have the balls to make the call to fire CMR?...

It takes luck too.

Not trying to flame, but saban got lucky all four years of his championships.

Considering his team was a play away from walking into a free national title last year, I think he's good to go.

UGA would have slaughtered ND just the same.

Probably not today. But I probably would've gone with a new coach after the 2010 season. It was a good time for both parties to try something new.
