Quite a few schools can already aspire to that this year. LSU's will certainly be up there. The Tigers had talent last year, just no depth.
This year between recruiting, transfers and JC's, LSU will field a fearsome unit that may wind up the nation's best unit.

Me moreso than you, but you did make a good point on one particular detail that I investigated and lucked-up on in the process in that lecture. Would have DM'd you but since we are not given that privilege around here ... this was the only way to offer a mea culpa.

Georgia Tech played in the SEC for 31 years, from 1933-1963. Those were GaTech's hay day years in football. They were an all male engineering school who could attract the best white male athletes of the day ... like so many of the military academies for instance, who also fielded solid teams back then. Like Clemson A&M even, before they became coed. I'd have to check Texas A&M's history to see if the rule applied to them as well during that period.

They played a really weak schedule ... barely above .500 and they shared a title with (5th Down Mizzou) Colorado, imagine that. Talk about an RPI-less shitty SOS mucked-up NCAA that year ... next to the year BYU was gifted the title, the year Ga Tech won was one of the worst years in NCAA football history.
Miami, FSU, even Washington, would have curb stomped Ga Tech that year if we had the BCS or the playoff. Ga Tech's schedule was pathetic ... lulz, they won the title in the Citrus Bowl was it? Or the Fiesta Bowl? One of those.
