It's awesome that he doesn't see himself as a victim. This is life. Seemingly bad stuff happens but it all turn out for the good.

I really hated to see it. Had such a future ahead of him. He was a stud.

Marcus was one of those guys who no matter what he did, he was going to be successful.
That being said, there was a time when he was with the 49'ers that Marcus seriously considered ending it all. He's talked about it in past interviews....

If they would have put this at the beginning I wouldn’t have wasted my time.

Wow that’s almost as bad as calling recruits the N word on Twitter

Lol you can’t bear to read about someone that doesn’t agree with you?
Kinda puts you in the same boat as him.

No, I can’t bear to read about someone who is intolerant of their “friends” political views and feels the need to call them out.
If he didn’t like Trump, whatever, I don’t care. But the fact that he disassociated himself with a long time friend because of his political views is sick. I don’t care for people who are into cancel culture or similar bs.

Not a dirty hit,

nah 24 wasn't goin for Lattimore's knee after Marcus already broke off a 28 yard TD run on UTK the prior Gamecock possession. 65 yards 11 carries 1 TD through the first 25 minutes of the game before the hit.
UTK's convicted DUI killer Leonard Little didn't tear USC QB Anthony Wright's knee ligaments out on purpose in 1997 either.
quote:
“I played with (Tennessee running back) Jamal Lewis in Baltimore,” Wright said. “He said, all week long, coach (Phil) Fulmer, reiterated to the defense and to the team that if they stopped me, if they stopped Anthony Wright, then they’d win the game.
“He said that Friday night before the game, in the team meeting (Fulmer) said it three or four times.”
The Volunteers ultimately won, with Wright’s knee being injured in the game,
karma keeps a list. careful now - especially in a black uniform this weekend.

Dumb redneck Spurrier rode him until he broke, like Jimbo is doing to Achane at A&M now.

His usage had zero to do with that injury.

He was an absolute beast which amazes me how Miss State held him to 39 yards one game. I think he had one year with the 49ers but got released. He never recovered from that injury. Would have loved to see him healthy in the NFL.
I think he's coaching high school ball now or something. Maybe Jr College? I just remember him accepting his fate but not wanting to be away from the game he loved.

Nah, 'course not. 35 rushes per game is healthy.
Did he get a helmet to the knee on his 35th carry, yes or no? That is the hit that ended his career, not the others. And before you mention the season prior, it’s not the same knee.
ETA: also, he averaged 19 carries per game as a freshman, 23 as a sophomore, and 16 as a junior. Leonard Fournette had basically his entire sophomore and Junior years in carries in one season as a sophomore.

Good read. He was one of the all time greats in the SEC.

I stopped here.
What a blubbering pussy he sounds like.
Oh I'm famous. People love me.
But they don't know.... the REAL me.
frick off.

quote:Players get hit on their knees all the time. The attrition if carrying the ball too much is like a roulette wheel. It's why a player having more than 20 carries is far less common than it once was. Lattimore is a big reason for that.

Lattimore was on my SEC fantasy team. I got to watch him get worked because Spurrier had no other ideas, game after game. Spurrier was even more clueless as a pro coach, and the Redskin players I knew at the time had funny stories of him being a dumbass.
