Make an argument for watching

I've been a rabid LSU fan since I can remember, I'm wearing an LSU hat in the oldest photo of myself I have, I remember when going to the Independence bowl was a successful season. Choosing to not follow or support the team was obviously not an easy decision, but I can't see why I should when I'd be contributing to the totalitarian left's stranglehold on public discourse and its pernicious race myths.
I can't blame the average player (probably all races) for buying into this narrative of blacks being oppressed and hunted by cops when that's what they've been told from an early age, but when universities and coaches feel compelled to bend over to satisfy them (see LSU putting up BLM stuff everywhere and lighting up tiger stadium in George Floyd's HS colors), I think it's time to tune out: being good at sports isn't worth sacrificing your dignity like Mike Gundy or Drew Brees did.
The left's mindset, which I think it's safe to say is shared by most blacks in the US, is that they're in a zero-sum struggle against anyone who disagrees with them in even the slightest way. They literally believe that you should be fired for criticizing BLM. Why should I support anything that furthers their cause?
I know this is kind of a political post and feel free to move it to that board; but I'd like some input from people who have decided to continue being fans after all this offseason regarding on their reasoning.

Because I don’t allow politics or what other people believe dictate my life. I watch for the game and hope that my fav team wins. Simple, easy, and I’m content with my life.

Basically this.
Not to mention, I am A-OK with my team's athletes having a voice.

This and it is 100% easy to avoid all of the political stuff if you want to

Agreed, the march didn't bother me, I thought it was silly and pointless, but that's their right. I also know most musicians I've enjoyed are left wing as hell and probably despise my views. But universities and their employees pandering is another thing. Why should sports have that much power?

Guy who doesn’t have millions to lose thinks millions of dollars isn’t worth not opening bashing a popular movement.
More a 10.

Yup just don’t watch the pregame, anthem, post game interviews, or commercials.
In all seriousness I think this year social justice will do what no other teams could do and that destroy the SEC

To allow trivial political beliefs to cause a lifetime rabid LSU fan to stop supporting the team is WEAK.
Left - Right, who gives a shite? It's college football and we only get it for a few months a year.

I have already been cuttin way back on spectator sports for years anyway. This latest episode, along with COVID, just makes it that much easier to basically eliminate a monumental waste of time and money from my life. It was coming to an end for me anyway. Thinking about how I used to waste entire weekends on this crap makes me sick and embarrassed at myself. It isn’t just me either. Milennials in general just care less about watching sports than Boomers and older generations do, for a variety of reasons. I think that’s a very healthy thing.

We know that college sports (especially college football) carry a tremendous amount of weight. If the rest of the University is OK with it, then there won't be any repercussions. Just like most other things, money talks. If people like you (I don't mean that negatively) feel that strongly, speak (or don't rather) with your money. If that movement is strong enough, this may go away.

Because I can roll my eyes at the idiocy and still enjoy the product. It is called being an adult.
Just like I love Rage Against the Machines music despite their idiotic world view.

After an off-season chock full of posts from grown men who have supposedly loved college football for decades and named their kids after the school mascot or whatever but are now so done with CFB because the players decided to speak out against police brutality, I never want to hear another word about how left-wingers are supposedly the ones who melt down and cry over being exposed to other people's opinions.
My advice: If it really bothers you that much that the players and some of the coaches won't vote the same way you do, then watch the games from kickoff to the end of the fourth quarter. Don't watch any of the other ancillary crap or get your unisex underwear in a knot over what a 19 year old defensive tackle put on Twitter.
If you're so thin-skinned that you don't think you can enjoy a football broadcast that makes reference to current events in the real world, then record the game and watch it later when you can fast forward past the parts that hurt your feelings.

And while some coaches are definitely sincere about their intentions, you've got to think that some see the writing on the wall and don't want to be pegged in recruiting as the school that doesn't care about what the players want.

Are CFB players even out there for the anthem? You are way overstating how much things get political in those other areas you mentioned, especially in regards to college sports.

I've seen so many people replying to Tom Morello lately with shite like "why are you so political all of a sudden."

Like "frick you I won't do what you tell me" wasn't always political.

Nope. And I don't think the NFL was even out there until a few years ago and the partnership with the US Military. Easy solution to that part!

Are you aware of what the leader of BLM posted on twitter today?

Between this board, the tiger rant, and Saints talk, I’ve never seen so many grown arse men act like bleeding pussies. I’d be embarrassed if I were them.
