McElroy is one of the most overrated players in the SEC. He had one of the nations best defenses and rushing attacks last year. He is an average player who yall think looks fantastic due to the team around him.

Oh, if only we had a mediocre QB on a mediocre team....

People didn't give Matt Flynn a lick of credit, but he got it done too

Didn't Pryor rush for around 800 yards as well last year?

No idea. I got his stats off ESPN, they didn't list rushing.

Blah blah blah, I've watched both of them play and pryor doesn't impress me that much at all.

Damn, if we were just "mediocre", you should have beaten us by a lot more than 24-15

I do, I give him lots of credit as a first year QB in the SEC who went undefeated and won the NC. IMO he is just not as good of a QB as Pryor.

I glanced at ncaa - he rushed for over 1k... had losses (sacks count against QB rushing) of around 230 yards

So yeah, IMO Pryor started to show some signs of being special last year - we'll see if he takes another step up this year

Saban got spanked by Mac in the 2001 Cotton Bowl, so they are even at 1-1

But if he's going to argue it, its not wise to compare QB's since Alabama is led by a QB who has been there and won it all. Pryor might be better, but you can't give the advantage to Ohio State since McElroy has proven that he can lead his team to a national title. Pryor hasn't.

It's a shitload easier to "lead your team" to win a national championship with the best defense in the country and a heisman trophy winning running back.

Pryor:
167/295 (56.6%), 7.1 yards per attempt, 2094 yards, 76 long, 18TD, 11 INT, 22 Sacks, 128.91 Rating

Gmac:
198/325 (60.9%), 7.72 yard per attempt, 2508 yards, 80 long, 17 TD, 4 INT, 18 sacks, 140.55 Rating
Uhh - this is kinda important too:

Rushing Stats
TP
162 Attempts, 779 Yards, 4.8 YPC, Longest Run 43, 7 TDs, 0 Fumbles

GMac
Rushing Stats
54 Attempts, 83 Yards, 1.5 YPC, Longest Run 16, 1 TD, 0 Fumbles

just saying

I don't think either is fantastic QB by the way but I think that TP has more potential upside, JMO

Like I said earlier, ESPN didn't list rushing stats, I just posted what they listed...

If we're finding other stats, then let me suggest:

Pryor: 11-2

Gmac 14-0

And people got on my case when I told them opposing coaches don't respect McElroy.

I pulled those numbers from ESPN

Look, the passing stats are damn near identical and the rushing stats are worlds apart. Like I said, I don't think that either is a superstar but I would bet that if either were to become a superstar it would be TP.

Who really cares which is better though, I just want to know who the best QB is on my own damn team.

Bama had the better team..As long as Gmac didn't throw picks he was fine. hell, even if he did, bama could probably win because their D and running game was so good. All Gmac had to do was hand the ball off. Not trying to bash him, because I do like the guy...but do you guys know he was 6 for 11 for just 58 yards in the biggest game of his life?

not flamin..just saying

ETA:he is a care taker QB on a run and defense dominated team..not sure how you can get a "who's a better qb" argument from that
