Not a big deal. This practice for football actually started in the early 90s when two pioneering friends (one of them being the QB and captain of the football team) sold spaces on the jersey of the QB by the letter to lovelorn schoolmates so that they could send a messages affection to the crushes they were to nervous to talk to. They did all this to raise money for the aftermath of a drunk driving incident that happened during homecoming week involving that year’s HoCo queen. It’s a beautiful story really.

They're building an LNG plant in Louisiana. Makes perfect sense - state wants their cut so you'll sponsor LSU football to pay for coaches and NIL. It's the Louisiana way.
