If the situations were switched?

Hey, I get it. But, don't act like you folks wouldn't be full of piss n vinegar if you weren't bathing in riches.

The whole country had LF the heisman winner after September. Henry wasn't even mentioned. At the time most Bama fans agreed and had LF gone on to win it with great games against the better teams he faced few Bama fans would have disagreed he earned it.

I think it is freaking hilarious that LF's team let him down and Henry ripped the award from his hands. Henry earned it and LF lost it by sucking( no matter who you blame for his performance) against the better teams on LSU's schedule.

No, we don't care about L5U as much as L5U fans care about Alabama.

I would be giving Fournette credit if he had just won the Heisman.

Hell I bought LSU tix this year just see the Heisman winner play. Who knew?

LSU people comparing their program to Alabama is an exercise in eternal frustration.

Well this would mean that he played really well versus Bama and I would've been good with him winning it. And some other Bama fans would feel the same. Some wouldn't even be on this board much until after the season was over. There are also way, way more of you than us. Off course there would a few would hate on LF still.

Fournette seems like a good kid, hate that his season ended the way it did.

But, if the roles were reversed and Henry got 31 yards against L5U on national TV (and was less than stellar in subsequent games), I would absolutely have no problem with Fournette winning the trophy.

Here's the deal...

L5U folks set themselves up for great disappointment because of LF's monster games against the likes of Syracuse, Eastern Michigan, and WKU. Those were essentially meaningless games from a national perspective, although they did vault LF into a seemingly Heisman lock.

Take a look at the highlight from the AU game in which the AU DB literally vaults over LF's back...it looked spectacular, but that Aub did everything in his power to avoid making that play. Early season smoke and mirrors, that's all it turned out to be.

We were not in a a good spot for a long time. I like to think our continued support of the program enabled Alabama to rise up once again. It wasn't fun when it was down. Want the answer to the OP? Look back at those years.

After Bryant, and even during the end of his time the decline had begun. The potential to be great again was always there and sometimes a coach would tap into it, Stallings comes to mind. Perkins won some games.Curry for a short time. Dubose for a year or so and even Franchione showed flashes.

But it took a great coach to wake the sleeping giant and kudos to Mal Moore for getting Nick Saban to Alabama. It is not going to be too many more years and it will be time for another hire... and it is going to be huge.
