Well I don't think it was 5-5 predictable. Lets assume the 3 before the season opt outs don't happen, Chase, Vincent Jr and Shevlin. That is 2 starters from the 2019 season on Defense that were drafted in the 2021 draft. Chase was a 1st round pick.

Now could those 2 guys on defense helped some, even with Bo coaching like he did 15 years ago F bombing everybody doesn't work with today's kids). Marshall opted out after 7 games.

I know Alabama had 10 guys drafted and 6 #1's. So nobody had enough elite level guys to match Alabama last year.

But I think only 5 teams had more picks than LSU as when it was all said and done 7 guys from LSU were drafted.

So if all those guys play, Chase is one of those elite difference makers who I think was worth 1 game somewhere, maybe Mizzou or maybe MSU some of those red zone's with no points or FG's become TD's. You add back Shevlin and Vincent you are definitely at 6 wins maybe 7.

But hey last year is last year and the opt outs, coaching hires did not work out and O had some personal life issues. The vibe was negative last year in August once the opt outs started and the rumbling of disconnect between players and new hires.

So the record is what it was. Still I think LSU has the roster to go against anyone this year. If QB play is is consistent and players and new coaches connect, and all accounts they are, LSU will not play like they did last year.
