LSU took Notre Dame's winningest coach the last time they were in the market.

Texas isn’t close to blue blood, they aren’t even blue blood in the SEC. Texas will never fit in here in the SEC.

Played for four national titles since 2003, won three, two Heisman Trophies in last six years, 103,000 seat stadium, over 50 players on the NFL, $175 million athletic budget, 80,000 season ticket holders, and already advertised NATIONALLY as the best job in football. But you claim, LSU is not a blue blood. Sure, snowflake. Sure.

4 NC games in last 20 years and 3 Natties. What you jack wads done. Way more of a blue blood than you wanna be''s

The point was that LSU took a blue blood's winningest coach away from them. The results are different topic.

lol…. We’ve played in three national championship games and won 2 of them since you’ve last made an appearance in one of those games. Why don’t you just go sit down for a little while.

Ok, but Texas isn’t either, no matter how much their fans make think that they are.

It is wild that all LSU heard from the OP is that they aren’t a blue blood. And LSU isn’t. By any objective (and albeit archaic) commonly held definition of the term.
You want to argue it’s a legacy term that isn’t relevant today? I’m with you. For all those who are breathlessly reciting LSU’s accolades the last 25 years, maybe you guys get included in some nouveau term for modernity (e.g. Gold Bloods, along with Georgia and Clemson and others who have had their golden eras 2000-beyond).
But regardless of all that, the point was to highlight the discrepancy in the prestige and brand between Ole Miss and LSU, where one is having the best season of its lifetime and still losing the fuel behind that season to a team who is a laughingstock this year. And by highlighting that, asking the question— what does that say about the long term viability of a regional and rather insulated school and community like one found In Mississippi?
But what’s very telling in hindsight is that all LSU glommed onto from OP was that they aren’t considered a “blue blood” (which again is not my determination, but rather a cultural designation from a time gone by) and LSU’s insecurities are SCREAMING, even in the moment of their greatest victory of the last few years.

A better question is why with all the money, resources, and recruiting base Texas has it constantly underperforms except for the one championship year with Mack Brown. LSU has won 3 championships 2 with very average coaches..LSU is a top 5 job I don't have a problem with Kiffin leaving for LSU I have a problem with the way he did it and threatening the university and doing it during a playoff run

Yes, paying him not to coach. Again, isn't the point.

Speaking of “not the point”, neither is the constant comparison to the University of Texas, but that’s like 75% of the replies here.
Good job on getting the ball coach you wanted and, in the context of which you had to get him, it wasn’t a gimme. But the bigger question that arises out of this Real Housewives of the SEC episode is, “what does this actually mean for Ole Miss, existentially?”
I would think for the intelligent Ole Miss fans it should pose an existential crisis when it settles that “oh man, we literally played the cards we have to the most optimal position and still got beat by a drunk with a full house. Our two pair will never be good enough to be anything better than we were three days ago. That’s the peak.”
