Decline started a while ago.

LSU won the SECW 4 times in a 7 year period between 2001and 2007. With 2 national championships. With 4 major bowl wins all in the Sugar Bowl.

In 11 seasons since. 1 SECW title,0 national championships, 0 major Bowl wins.

LSU is dead.

This right here is why I don’t respect the Bama program more than I do.

I have much respect for Bear Bryant and Nick Saban (for what he did for LSU and for what he’s doing right now). It’s because of coaches like these two that Bama players are among the most disciplined during games (these coaches wouldn’t put up with much BS by a player. If you build it, they will come. I totally get why elite players want to come compete for titles, which they are virtually guranteed to do. So, I have respect for Bama players and coaches.

It’s Bama fans like the OP who take that next step and put other programs down or put down “a” program that turn me against the Bama program. I don’t believe every Bama fan is like this just like I don’t think all fans of any school are the same. It’s elitism at its worst when a winner puts someone they beat down rather then focusing on they do well.

We don’t have to try. We just are relevant. Keep telling yourself we’re not, though.

I’m just trying to plan for this eventual LSU decline I keep hearing about because every offseason it’s the same thing and we keep going out and...

...and finishing third or fourth in the SECwest division, which translates to about 6th-8th in the entire SEC which is exactly middle of the SEC pack. Middle of the pack is the definition of mediocre.

They have not won a major bowl in over a decade and have won the west once in the last decade. Auburn has won the west 3 times for comparison.

3 times, you say?

That matches their win total over LSU in the same timeframe.

Decline is a constant action. To LSU say is underperforming and middling would be one thing but to decline would mean to be heading in an opposite direction of chamionship play, which couldn’t be further from the truth. We’ve stagnated just below it.

L8U finish in the SEC west last six years:

2017 - third
2016 - third
2015 - third
2014 - fifth
2013 - third
2012 - third

You are right about stagnating. But if you think third in the division is “just below championship play” then we now understand the O hire and the mindset at LSU.

Congratulations on achieving your goals.

Don't you know?

LSU is the best 3 loss team in the SEC West.

They aren't as good as one of the 4 loss teams in the SEC west, but they are the best 3 loss team.

Whew buddy, LSU is legitimately giving up. Might as well go put on the sweatpants and start some popcorn, SVU comes on at 7.

Second place in 2017 won the championship so my argument is fine that we’re just below it.

First place lost 4 games including to UCF, and us.
