I was in Tiger Band in the mid/late 80s. Even back then there were a few fruit loops in the color guard section (rifles) who were more than a little flamboyant. I'm just glad it hasn't infected the Golden Girls (yet).
Our university is fast becoming a joke. I don't mean the football team or the band or anything like that. I mean the entirety of the university. At this point it ought to relocate its campus to the Quarter in New Orleans and offer a major in drag queen cabaret and other "woke" major courses of study.

The rate at which LSU has gone full blown far left is astonishing, and I’m not sure I understand the logic. It hasn’t done anything but alienate the fanbase and major donors, and put a strain on everything from athletics to public relations. I don’t get it.

Okay, I’ll adjust my OP to more accurately reflect the fact that it’s a wholistic Covid mandate - to include a vaccine or negative PCR test. The only P5 school east of the Rockies to implement something like that.

When I was a student (and I imagine it's still being done) "Free Speech Alley" was an event that took place in front of the Student Union every Wednesday afternoon. It was generally a bitch-fest for liberals to spew hatred for everything good and American. That mindset has been pampered for decades and groomed so that it has taken over the university. LSU was once a great institution with top notch colleges of engineering, architecture, physics, etc. It's ROTC was top of the list in the now defunct 4th Army District (of which Texas A&M was a part). LSU petroleum engineers were sought by companies world wide. LSU geologists were second to none. LSU music comp grads wrote memorable scores for movies that we still recognize (Bill Conti composed the Theme for Rocky - the first movie.) General Claire Lee Chennault, commander of the AVG (The Flying Tigers) studied at LSU. So much greatness has disappeared in a puff of leftist Voodoo.
I love my university and its history, but I am horribly ashamed of what it has become. The people of the Great State of Louisiana deserve better than this. A state with all the natural resources Louisiana has should be more than an American banana republic.

Let’s just say this, I will always support LSU athletics. But if I had a kid in HS right now pondering where to attend school, I would not be be pushing LSU on them. It’s disgusting and the alumni are about to lose it.

I mean… they’re already there. That’s kinda the point. Take a look around and see the results. New Orleans is one of the most corrupt cities in America and a crime riddled shite hole. For some reason, the Louisiana State University decided they wanted more of that.

Calm yourself Karen. Im not justifying anything, just pointing out that the op was misleading. There is in fact not a "mandate". There are more options.
