If LSU loses a close one at Bama they should remain in the top ten

you mean the top 4, using the playoff committee's logic. Think about it.

Alabama gets a mulligan, no other SEC school does, not Florida (#10) or LSU (#8 after losing to Bama).

Plus it is all about the EYE test, recruiting rankings, and of course TV RANKINGS.

All I keep hearing is how irrelevant these rankings are. yes, they are if LSU wins. But if Bama wins, even by a small margin, plenty of other teams are fricked-assuming Bama wins out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't one committee member in each year of this illogical Committee had to step down because of health reasons??

Why the hell are old people elected or sought after for anything?

Down with the geriatrics of the World.

Ya know?? Senior citizen discount??!?!? Da fuq is this? Y'all been alive the longest, y'all should have the most money.

Betting lines.

Coached and AP posters say LSU is the better team. So yes, Bama beating LSU is an upset.

no it's not

4 beating 2 is not an upset

maybe 15 beating 2 or unranked beating 2

It's not like I care. But you clearly don't know what an upset is. An upset is a team that the majority predicted to have no chance at winning, yet they do.

In no sport is #4 vs #2 considered a game that could be an upset. Especially if #4 is at home and favored.

You're being obtuse.

someone doesn't know what a mulligan is.

Here's a hint: it's a golf term

Don't get caught up in all this. You are usually above the fray on these things.

I'm aware of what it is (I lobby to get one per side when I play golf with friends, b/c Lord knows I need it). In football parlance it has become synonymous with "a do over". I'm saying that there have been a lot of teams get a "do over" with one loss and be able to stay alive in BCS and play for a title. There has only been one team get a "do over" with two losses to stay alive and play for a title.

LSU fans should just drop this argument b/c the BCS system benefited both of our teams at different points. And besides that, LSU fans were absolutely certain you were the better team. Les Miles even mentioned playing Bama again on the night of 9-6:
"I'd be honored to face that team again", said Miles

All you had to do was win the game. In a title game situation, nothing previous matters. It is a one game season for the championship. LSU didn't close the deal. Bama did. It's time for both to move on.

The rematch was the reason the BCS got the ax. The rest of the conferences will shite a brick if the SEC gets two in the playoff.

Partially correct. The BCS got the ax because the title game was one of the least watched in the history of college football. Outside of those two states, the numbers were abysmal. I know it's public knowledge to just Google the Nielsen rankings for that 2012 Bama/LSU game. I think Canadian Curling got a better viewership in the states. Less eyeballs, less dollars for ESPN. It didn't necessarily matter that it was played between two division rivals, but that was the byproduct of a system that needed to go. When you only include about 6 or 7 states with any interest in the game, it fails to be a "national" championship. It was a regional championship.

You really believe this, don't you?

Of course I do. The lack of interest, outside the Southeast, put the BCS out to pasture.

I'm sorry you don't understand that.

ETA: The lack of interest led to a massive lack of revenue, as the poster above me alluded to.
