LSU has always been a "damn fine football program" in relation to the rest of the field in college football. When it comes to the Blue Bloods, however, LSU's program does not hold a candle.

Without Saban, LSU is Ole Miss.

And Bama would have 4 less NC's and be in a 20+ year cycle of mediocrity

Because like roaches, gumps are attracted to hot garbage.

Just a reminder, Texas A&M has beaten LSU more recently than South Carolina

We are probably the next team outside of that though. I think we are one of the most historically relevant football programs but so is Yale.

This is the problem... they truly think they have been the SEC standard bearers ... despite averaging middle of the pack in the SEC west. Yet a goodly portion of the fans would not believe it if you showed then the cold hard numbers.

The lack of awareness is alarming. You should see the constant refrain about “ all that talent” LSU has. When you ask if it is possible that other SEC schools also have a lot of talent, you get a blank stare, a long list of names such as Boudreaux at nose tackle, and a repeat declaration about “all that talent” LSU always has complete with NFL stats. You never seem to get a true acknowledgment about actual CFB accomplishments.

If you ask just where the belief in a best in nation D next year comes from...again you get a list of players from the roster, complete with a lot of names no one has ever heard of... and something about Aranda. And then comes something about “the front seven” which includes another bunch of names no one except LSU fans have heard of.

Don’t bother to ask if the declarer has taken a look at opposing team’s two deep, or looked at matchups. Most LSU fans couldn’t name a single player for...say...State et Al. They live in a small pond and actually believe they have always been elite.... which is why they hate Alabama so much and are forever talking refs, SEC office, etc. Alabama is one reality that they cannot excuse away.

LSU is usually a decent football team, and will be about 4-4 in SEC this year. But don’t say that too loud. Refusal to predict 10-2 will get your tires slit.

Missouri has been a better program since 2012.

Let that settle a little.
