LSU Game Day Question

My daughter will be a freshman this fall heading east to the Swamp. We attended orientation this past week and I have to say I was quite impressed with the beautiful campus, the staff, and the well run programs. My question is about game day in Baton Rouge. We will be attending the November 23 A&M game which at that point in the season could be a huge game for both teams. Where to stay outside of Baton Rouge? (All hotels are sold out in BR now of course) How many hours prior to kickoff should we arrive? Do I really need a helmet if I'm wearing Texas A&M gear? Details for game in Death Valley please!!! Can't wait.i guess I'll need an LSU Dad cap as well.

All hotels sold out? I doubt that.

A helmet does no good. You need a rain jacket

You and your daughter can crash at my apartment not far from the stadium at all. Emphasis on daughter.

You'll probably have some luck finding a place to stay off of Airline Highway by Plank Road; most of the hotels around there I'm sure have hourly rates, so you could save a buck that way. There are also some neat parks around that area, especially one under 110. Those shouldn't be missed.

I found a hotel in Denham like a month before the bama game last year. They hate bama more than they hate Aggie. Keep looking, there isn't a chance in hell every hotel is booked for that weekend in ebr or Livingston parish

Where are you looking for hotels? Baton Rouge isn't College Station, no way they're all sold out.

I've stayed in Laffy multiple times - not that bad. Get out there as soon as you can after you wake up and have a DD. You won't get a good chance to really see baton rouge or do anything outside of tailgating but if you're just there for gameday it works quite nicely - especially headed from TX and there's plenty decent places to stay.

On a serious note, I just did a search on Kayak.com for a hotel in BR for Nov 22 and 23 and got several hits all over the city, including many around Corporate/College Dr, and downtown.
If you want to stay outside of BR, look around Lafayette---you may hate that drive after the game, though. Baton Rouge is pretty big, you should be able to find something with ease if you just do a little looking.
