How much worse did LSU's defense play than Bama's?
TCU's offense is considerably better than that of a Virginia Tech's.
LSU's defense gave up 259 total yards compared to Bama giving up 212. LSU gave up 114 yards rushing compared to Bama giving up 153. LSU gave up 13 first downs compared to Bama giving up 7. LSU's defense gave up 20 points, with 7 coming from a 1st and goal from the 5 after a fumble by Blue. Compare that to Bama's defense giving up 10 points.
While LSU's defensive performace was not steller, it was not that bad considering it was the first game of the season after replacing 9 starters from last year.

It is because Less did not win the chicken bowl last year. If so, he would been the all time wins coach of this prestigious bowl. I think lsu has played in it like 3-4 times in the past 8 years Less has been at LSU. But do not worry, he will have plenty of more chances for the record.
