You're right, they can win 100% of their games without great coaching. Hell, they don't even need the level of talent LSU has across the board. Gene Chizik is gonna die famous because of this.

one season with the greatest player in the country does not make a career. its an anomaly. but i somehow knew you would try to use that as an example.

im really disappointed in you Roger. i thought you were better than this.

it must have been all that high school talent in Louisiana, right? that's why Les wins, right?

Nick Saban has won a national title at two different schools (and has four total), both of whom were very "meh" before he got there.

Les Miles has one national title, won with the help of Saban recruits, at a school that had won one just four years earlier.

He had talent when they went 3-9, dumbass. gus malzahn is the only reason they won. Auburn fans will admit to this.

Nick Saban won a national championship at LSU, Les Miles averaged 5 losses a year and never finished higher than third in a conference with two good teams at the time.

So a guy reels off three consecutive winning seasons and three consecutive bowl games at a school that had ONE (1) winning seasons in 12 years before he got there and thats nothing?

I'm not saying what he did at OSU was more impressive than what Saban did at LSU. I'm just saying the guy got results in a crappy situation.

I'm sure you know nothing about LSU football but Saban did NOT walk into a situation that bad.

Sounds a lot like the guy coaching at A&M right now.

Since folks who live in bamma do not know anything about "culture", I can see how this confuses you.

Because the state of Louisiana is so cultured. Let's not forget that this supposed "culture" you're so proud of is essentially redneck French.

Sumlin has lost six games in the SEC, all to what either were at the time or ended up being top-10 teams.

Les Miles lost six conference games to unranked teams alone at OSU.

Not quite the same thing

As serious as the heart attack Bielema is slated to have this time next year.
If you don't think Miles did good at OSU, you are seriously a fricking moron. Your posts now make sense.

You obviously didnt grow up in Lousiana if you are confused when people refer to the Louisiana "culture". Maybe you should go back to north alabama.

The answer is yes, even at this level you can win a lot of games and a lot of awards just by having better players at most positions than the other team week in and week out.

IMO, and I'm certainly oversimplifying here and the %'s are certainly debatable, but winning at the college game comes down to 3 basic things:

1. Recruiting (60%) *facilities are a part of this
2. Xs and Os + Asst Coaching Staff (30%)
3. Lucks/Breaks/Weather/Schedule/Bounces/Etc (10%)

definitely not sumlin, still not sold on him honestly.

Actually, When it looked like Miles was gonna get the offer from Michigan, Sumlin was one of the first guys I thought of as a replacement.

Why are you hating on Les?

He is a great evaluator of high school talent - he is a great recruiter - he hires a support staff that knows how to develope the talent that comes in and he consistantly puts a competative product on the field.

Les was a winner at OSU and he's a winner at LSU. He's a great fit for LSU and after all of the shite he's taken from his own fanbase in years past, he must love the place tremendously.

I was think more along the lines of NEVER finishing higher than third with his two best teams and a Heisman trophy winner. Third is Third right? Besides coaching your boy? What exactly has he accomplished in two years?

He cleans up the top 15-20 kids in Louisiana every year nabs a few elite guys from Texas, Mississippi, etc.

He isn't exactly finding diamond two stars here.
