DE R Lawrence will be replaced by Neil Farrell. He had three starts last year when Lawrence was out injured. Farrell actually lead all Dlinemen in tackles, sacks and tfl's. DLine goes into '20 with a solid four experienced players. Need to add depth. Bringing in a great recruiting class along Dline.

Secondary will be elite. Return at least 7-8 that saw quality SEC and postseason time last year. Stingley, Vincent, Stevens, Flott, Ward, Jones, Harris, Hampton and Monroe. LSU had five CB in '19. Four were Tr FR. Bringing in a couple of elite DBs again for next year.

LB is the BIG question. ILB D Clark is the most productive returning. Return a couple of SRs (Thornton and Anthony) on the outside that have started somewhat in their careers. Bringing in a great recruiting class at LB.

I'll just leave this article here:
LSU will be fine!

BATON ROUGE – Apparently, every single LSU junior who declared early for the 2013 NFL Draft was not far off the mark – even those late round projections who raised a few eyebrows.

All 10 early departing juniors have been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine with 290 other juniors and seniors from college football teams across the nation and will be working out for NFL coaches and personnel officials today through Tuesday in Indianapolis. Players will lift weights along with getting drilled, timed, tested and interviewed in preparation for the NFL Draft, which will be April 25-27. The NFL Network will provide live television coverage from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and through Tuesday.

Tight ends, offensive linemen and specialists will go today with quarterbacks, running backs and receivers on Sunday, defensive linemen and linebackers on Monday and defensive backs on Tuesday.

COMBINE:FSU star says he's best QB in class

In all, a school record 13 LSU players have been invited to the Combine. The only other school with as many as 13 invited this year was Florida State.

The 10 LSU juniors from the 2012 team who will be in Indianapolis are defensive end Barkevious Mingo of West Monroe, defensive end Sam Montgomery, defensive tackle Bennie Logan of Coushatta, safety Eric Reid, middle linebacker Kevin Minter, tailback Spencer Ware, tailback Michael Ford of Leesville, cornerback Tharold Simon of Eunice, offensive tackle Chris Faulk and punter Brad Wing.

Junior cornerback/kick returner Tyrann Mathieu, who did not play in 2012 after being dismissed from the program permanently in August, also declared for the draft and was invited to the Combine.

Two seniors have also been invited to make the 13 total – defensive end Lavar Edwards and center P.J. Lonergan.

VIDEO: STARS SPEAK OUT AT COMBINE

Mingo is expected to be a top 15 pick, while Montgomery is projected as a top 16-to-24 selection, according to NFL Draft expert Mike Detillier, who has Logan as a possible late first round pick and Reid as a late first rounder or early second rounder.

Minter is expected to go in the second round with Mathieu, Ware and Simon likely in the third round. Faulk could go as high as the third round, if he recovers fully from a knee injury that caused him to miss most of the 2012 season, or as low as the fifth if he does not. Detillier has Wing and Ford going as low as the fifth round at the moment. Edwards and Lonergan are also seen as middle-to-low round picks in the seven-round draft.

The Combine could be very important for Mingo, Montgomery and Reid as all need to show their form from spectacular sophomore seasons in 2011.

"They have the most on the line," Detillier said. "All are highly rated, but all three are coming off less than stellar junior campaigns. There is a logjam of pass rushers at outside linebacker and defensive ends, and the scouts are looking for some separation. As far as Eric Reid, he is sitting right on the edge of round one and early round two. Good showing here could push him into round one."

The Combine showcases players with measurables such as speed, strength and agility, so Sunday could be a big day for Ware and Ford.

"Michael Ford could light this up," Detillier said. "He's a great athlete, and he has a nice combination of speed and power. He's also versatile as a kickoff returner. Ware is an excellent receiver and explosive back."

Among the LSU seniors not invited to the Combine were wide receiver Russell Shepard, offensive guard/tackle Josh Dworaczyk of New Iberia, offensive tackle Alex Hurst, tight end Chase Clement, defensive tackle Josh Downs of Bastrop and defensive end Chancey Aghayere.

Shepard was a mild surprise as a non-invitee in some circles as he was a late invitee to the Senior Bowl. "I thought he would get the invite," Detillier said.

After the Combine, LSU players with hopes of NFL futures still have LSU's "Pro Day" on March 27 to prove themselves to NFL personnel experts.

LSU is expected to blow away the school record of eight Tigers taken in a single draft. That was set in 1949 when quarterback Y.A. Tittle led the way as the sixth pick of the first round to Detroit.

Detillier sees 15 getting selected this year. He predicts all 13 players invited to the Combine will get selected along with Shepard and Downs.

Tigers can win some games with that "D". Just need to add quality depth.

But didn't LSU go 10-3 and 8-5 in the next 2 seasons after that massive loss of guys? Not trying to troll, but why would the massive loss of guys from the 2012 team be seen as an example of it not being a big deal?

Not because of defense though, Anthony Jennings wasn’t winning any games in the other side of the ball. LSU’s success next year is going to be determined at the quarterback position, the rest of the team is still some players. Brennan can be the difference between 8/9 wins and 11/12 wins

ETA: skipped right over 2013, we felt the defensive losses that year for sure, that was our only good offense in a decade

Yea, people lose 2013 in the shuffle when talked about LSU always having a smashmouth, bad offense. That offense was really damn good and had talent out the wazoo.

It just so happened to match up with probably the worst LSU defense since.....2008 maybe? Before that?

those 2 defenses were about the same, 2008 probably looks worse on paper because of all of the pick 6s

If memory serves that '13 "O" was the first time SEC ever had a 3,000 yd passer, two 1,000 yd receivers and a 1,000 yd rusher.

Joey B pumped up the passing yds a little this year.
