Rivalries transcend bad periods between each team. Tennessee and Auburn are our rivals even in programs dark periods. NOT just when both teams are good.

LSU fans don't understand this for the most part, they think football started in 2000....

Ole Miss is definitely LSU's main rival

This.

Bama vs LSU hatred is just because both teams are pretty dang good right now and the winner of the west has been determined by the winner of this game (save for AU in 2010). Not really a true rivalry.

Again, this.

LSU-Bama has been a good series lately, but I don't ever see it developing into an Iron Bowl or Third Saturday in October.

Jesus tap dancing Christ man LSU vs Bama is not a rivalry ......now LSU vs Saban is probably a better case because LSU, currently (key word there), wants to beat Saban more than any other team on the schedule. No matter what that a-hole says you will never convince me that he doesn't feel the same way about us.

I've seen several posters, mainly bammers, claim it is not a rivalry. I would like to hear their explanation.

What makes it not a rivalry?

Because we don't think about or dislike LSU the way we do Auburn or Tennessee and in order to have a rivalry the two teams and fans have to dislike and almost hate each others program and we don't hate LSU but we do dislike the fans.

LSU/Bama Rivalry? These threads make me laugh. Gumps keep telling themselves its not a rivalry even though CLM has an even W-L record vs. $abun. (That without the benefit of any same season rematches to bolster his win total.) This no rivalry argument is about as ignorant as "The best loss argument" Gumps!

You want to know why it's not a rivalry? We don't know what the W-L record of miles vs whatever because we don't care.

It's been a great game the last few years but that's it. Our dance card is full regarding rivals.

Maybe Alabama and UT feel differently but to the rest of the country comparing the Iron Bowl to a game between Tennessee and Bama is laughable.

I'm almost 46...I could care less about beating Ole Miss...it's expected, frankly

Beating Alabama under Nick Saban is difficult and more meaningful when we win..

that's just the truth...

As long as Nick is at Alabama and Miles at LSU, I expect the SECW to be decided thru these 2 teams...

AU was awesome with Cam and Gus, I just don't see Auburn competing with Alabama at that elite level on a consistent basis

And that's exactly the point, isn't it? We don't give a damn whether anyone else on the entire MF planet cares about Bama-Tenn, we want to stomp the shite out of them every damn time. It's hate. We simply don't have it for LSU. Sorry?

Depends on who you ask. A lot of older Alabama fans say that TN is their true rival and a lot younger ones say that Auburn is their true rival.

I personally think that has to do with TN's success here lately.

I also don't think the TSO is comparable to the Iron Bowl, but hell, I'm biased.

it takes like 3 generations of hate to build up a rivalry. maybe LSU and A&M could become rivals by year 2100.

#1: I don't give a frick about y'all 51 weeks out of the year.

#2: I'd trade two losses to LSU for one win against Auburn.

#3: The thought of losing to LSU doesn't cause me physical illness.

In the Peach Bowl I think......and IIRC 2000 is definitely not the year to drive your point home cause didn't Bama finish under .500 that year
