FWIW I have heard many LSU fans over the past 4-5 years say,

"As long as we beat Alabama, I'll be satisfied with the football team." <-not kidding.

Sounds like one sided rivalry speak to me.

I know right? Definitely one-sided.

Problem: A rivalry is on both sides, not just one.

I think I have said this before but...Being a rival requires more than just throwing together a bunch of insults on a message board. A rivalry has to contain hate and or contempt for each side from each side. You cannot hope your way into a rivalry

Rivals:

Tennessee
Auburn

Big Games currently:

Lsu
Auburn
Arkansas

There's a difference in established rivals and current big games.

Exactly. As I told Bella earlier, everyone wants our toy. Not gonna happen. We share with UT cause we have to, not because we want to.

By definition Alabama doesn't have a rival.

Besides our in state rival, for me it is which coach I get the most pleasure out of watching us beat. That coach for me has become Bobby Petrino. I love watching his head almost explode out of everything that goes wrong for him in a game, especially when they play Bama. I even loved watching LSU send him into a tailspin. So I guess for me it is,

#1 AU - Grew up hating
#2 Arky - Petrino being arrogant and smug
#3 LSU - Just because they are the best competition and I like coach Miles.
#4 Tenn - Not so much now that Fulmer is gone.

In practicality and perception, it's just Tn and Au.

It's a shame LSU fans don't poison sacred trees, otherwise we could have a rivalry? maybe? Again, I don't really care, but at what line does the competition have to cross to be considered a rivalry in Bama fans' minds?

My Question:
What would it take to create a legitimate rivalry with Alabama?

Not be 2 decades behind in win/loss column.

Right now, there's not much doubt Lsu is the biggest game for Bama each year. But it's going to take alot of back and forth over many years to establish themselves as rivals. Too many generations the series has been one sided.
