The LSU fan base focuses way too much on Saban. Until they can get over their Saban-envy they will not be capable of a rivalry with the University.

I think there are 2 types of rivalries
1) The competition Rival: in this sense, Bama could be considered a rival because they're always going to be in competition with us for the West as long as they remain competitive
2) the hatred or "classic" rivalry: I think the only hatred for bama for a lot of LSU fans stems from the Saban thing or the fact that they had our number in Tiger Stadium for years. But the hatred rivalry needs to come from both sides. no matter how we feel about bama, bama doesnt HATE us like they do auburn and tenn.

Ole Miss is definitely LSU's main rival, I'm not debating that. Auburn is up there and Alabama is up there, IMO. Tulane, was a rival in ancient history, who took their place?

Possibly. IIRC there was always a good bit of bad blood there, especially over the series ending.
You need mutual hatred from the two respective fanbases to maintain a long term rivalry. Bama and LSU just don't have that.

LSU doesn't have a rival in the SEC. A&M may become that one day but not right now

Gumps keep telling themselves its not a rivalry even though CLM has an even W-L record vs. $abun. (That without the benefit of any same season rematches to bolster his win total.)

But the last 15 games have been heavily in LSU's favor...
