Depends on a few things, like who wins their bowls, and who declares for the draft. I don't see Arkansas being top 10 even with a bowl win if Mallett leaves.
after y'alls backup showing what he can do and having pretty much no dropoff when malett went down, i doubt that has much of an effect on preseason next year as you think. also, with the emergence of kniles davis, that also is gonna make a huge difference

Could someone please explain why they think Bama, coming off a 9-3 season and losing their QB, Heisman RB, and WR, along with some others would be deserving of a top 10 ranking?

Just thinking this myself while the "Mallett leaves" argument is being used against Rkansas....

LSU will be 7 or 8..
Alabama will be 6 by default based on their coach, and their name.
Arkansas will be at least 12th

If the staff can haul in a couple of JUCO o-linemen like Aaron Douglas and Jacob Fahrenkrug the hogs should be top 10 easily. But since preseason rankings are more about media hype and the most in-depth any preseason preview is going to get is MALLETT'S GONE i'm gonna guess:
Bama 3
LSU 7
Arkansas 20
Bama 3
LSU 7
Arkansas 20

If Barron, Hightower, and Upshaw return I do not know what we will be ranked, but our defense will be good enough to deliver another bcs national championship

LSU will be the favorite to win the conference in 2011, followed by either Alabama or Arkansas.

It all depends. If we (Arkansas) win against OSU then we may be a top 5 team. I would speculate that since Mallett leaves, and he will, that we will drop to about 10 if we beat OSU. If we lose to OSU, I say we start at about 15, with, or without Mallett.
I guess I mean to say that we will be a top 5 team, with or without Mallett, but that may not be how we start.

On paper we really don't lose much. We lose some important players, but on defense we should only really lose one key guy, Dareus, so the defense should be much improved. We also bring back Robbie Green who would have been a big contributor this year.
Ingram will be missed but we should be fine at RB. Some swear Julio is coming back but I'm still skeptical so that's a big loss if it happens. Carpenter also is a big loss but we return four starters on the line.
So basically we should lose about six starters. Not much really. QB's the issue but I'd be pretty surprised if we weren't preseason top 5-10.
LSU should be around 5-10 too and Arkansas could be as well if Mallett comes back. If not they should be around 10-15.

Bama's 1st team will be #1, their 2nd team will be #5, like they said at the beginning of this year. No one will be able to stay on the field with them, just like this year. Roll Finebaum, what a great journalist.
Bama will probably be 9-13ish.
LSU will be 4-8 if JJ or Mett has a great spring game, 11-15 if the offense still looks awful.
Arky will be top 4 if Mallett returns. He won't, though, so they'll be in the same mid-ten range as Bama

Bamas only new starter will be LT and QB. Our OL stays intact and TR will start if Ingram doesn't come back which I doubt he does. Bama will be top five LSU top ten. We will return to the run like 09 and 08 unless AJ does a lot of growing up between now and then. Our OL should be better next yr and hopefully wewill have someone like Arie Kouamdjio to step up or possibly a new Juco LT as we are after a couple.
