We just signed a stout OL class but that's another option too. We have plenty of options whether he comes or not. He's a luxury that fell into our lap we'd be fools not to pursue. It allows Brent to step away from the defense and focus more on the offense, which is the critical area of focus as everybody could clearly see last season. There's value in that, too.

This was never a fit at OU if one looks at the bigger picture
OU has a really good and improving defense, which will be even better with some competent offense.
OU needs to win this year. JK has his own D system. Would have been impossible to implement his system in the one year timeline. In 3 years yes. But not 1 year as players cane in for BV system.
JK was not going to want to run BV’s system either. He would have basically been a lame duck coach. And why pay over $3m for a DC who is running BV’s system. That would be waste of money.
OU will be fine and will either promote from within or hire someone willing to run the BV system.
If you brought in JK and it fails where OU loses 6 games, now you have a mess as he starts recruiting for his system while you still have BV type players. You would be caught in no mans land.
The impact for OU is minimal. It helps Pedo State more than it would have OU.

I agree, this move should probably vault Ou into consideration for favorites to win the SEC championship next year…this is impossible to ignore….you know, not getting an elite DC

Helps State Penn a lot more than it helps OU. Im good with saving the money here. Defense hasn't been the problem.

As I noted, in a 1 year timeline this was not going to improve defense. He was not going to run BV system and he was not going to have his players in place either.
In 3 years time he would have. But OU is in win now mode. BV has a great defense and the players that work in it.
Our only issue was offense. Improve that and defense improves even more.
Its all about timing. tOSU did not have the same defense his first year. It takes a few years to change style of players and playbook.
OU will be fine defensively. Offense should be much improved for many reasons, getting the top portal QB and an OC.
Learn to read, or just troll some more.

I wonder if we will hear this story sometime.
