Ohio State bought out the home and home because of the announcement of the B1G - PAC 12 series that the PAC 12 subsequently backed out of because they didn't like the matchups. Now the B1G is going to 9 conference games. I'm not sure why this forced Nebraska to buy Tennessee out as Ohio State still has marquee matchups scheduled in the future.

One thing from a football scheduling standpoint to pay attention to is Tennessee's scheduled 2016 contest with Nebraska. With the Big Ten's decision earlier this week to split into eastern and western divisions and play nine league games, that leaves the 'Huskers with one game too many in '16, and discussions have begun about what, if any, impact that will have on the scheduled series with the Vols.

like USC, OSU, Notre Dame, Nebraska,

This is true...those are 'hard to get' opponents. Point taken.

Thank God.

Tennessee has brought enough embarrassment to the SEC over the past decade.

I don't buy in to that at all. I have heard nor read anything regarding this. Also, it makes no sense because in 2016 Nebraska plays Tennessee at home and that is the first year of the 9 game conference schedule. That year Nebraska will have only four home conference games. They already have 3 home non conference games, including Tennessee so there will be no need to cancel the series. The next season, 2017, when they go to Tennessee to play, they will have 5 home conference games so they will make 7 home games that season, too. This series will go on as planned.

I hear you. They've now scheduled home and homes with TCU, Texas and Oregon to go along with Oklahoma and Virginia Tech in the next ten years. Add in home and homes with UNC and Boston College and there doesn't seem to be much room left for scheduling.
