With B1G going to 9 conference games. Ohio State bought out home and homes with Tennessee and UGA last year. Would leave Tennessee with no marquee opponent from 2016-2020.

2013 @ Oregon
2014 @ Oklahoma
2015 Oklahoma
2016 @ Nebraska
2017 Nebraska
2018 (Ohio State bought out)
2019 (Ohio State bought out)
2020 --
2021 USC
2022 @ USC

Rumor is that FSU will replace them, so looks like the rest of the SEC is out of luck.

The drawback of the 9 game slate is one less home game every other year (just in conference). That's a lot of money. Maybe, if every one goes to this, 1 and done at a large neutral site will be the wave of the future.

I do too and I don't quite understand why it's not doable, even with a 9 game slate. 9 conference games, 2 in-state games and 1 major conference foe. Is it really that difficult? UF, SCar and UGA wouldn't need the extra big OOC.

Yep. I've been to South Bend, Coral Gables, the Rose Bowl, and Berkeley in just the past 10 years. Blows these kick-off events out of the water. That's what bowl games are for.

Going to Eugene this fall and Norman next fall. Much better than 50/50 splits in ATL or Dallas.

TBH, I was hoping for the Lambeau deal to go through. But since it's not I would have preferred a 1 and 1 with Wisconsin.

not that it is at all important for this thread but technically tOSU didn't buy us out. it was a gentleman's agreement or something i want to say that they basically had an agreement that either team could back out with no penalty until i want to say 2016. sucks though, i was looking forward to heading to columbus in 2021

UF hasn't had any marquee ooc opponent since the World War I

meh. that's like USC having UCLA and Bama having Auburn. you MUST play your biggest in-state rival every year, imo.

well yea, but the difference with USC/UCLA and Bama/AU is that their rivals are in their conference. UGA, UF, and USCe have a permanent OOC match up with a marquee opponent (ok, maybe not GT).

I'm not defending UF, I think they're cowards too. But the point here was that UT doesn't have a big OOC game for the end of the decade and you were saying "and UF does?" They do, they have FSU and UT doesn't have an OOC team to help out. I'm not hating on UT either, yall do as well as anyone for OOC games. Just saying yall not scheduling a game to replace these is not the same thing as UF because they do have FSU

Well, kinda. But over last 30 years FSU has 3rd highest winning% in CFB. Miami has 4th highest and UF has played them 10 times in that period.

I don't really love where college football has gone with the scheduling in and out of conference philosophies over the last 30 years.

It used to be you'd see around 6-7 conference games played a year and 2-3 bcs teams played ooc. Now we're seeing 9 conference games in some conferences like teh PAC and Big 10 but potentially zero BCS teams played out of conference.

I really like seeing the great teams from different conferences play each other.

i'm with ya, and this will crush it. i like the current system but i also understand teams that want more of a rotation in conference so this may be our only solution. which really sucks i think, good bye UGA vs regional powers like CU and FSU

This is why i dont like 9 game schedules.

It actually hurts strength of schedules and pushes teams to avoid higher quality games.

but they know each other very well. if you lose you can get them back later, not a big deal.

scheduling other proud programs like USC, OSU, Notre Dame, Nebraska, etc like once in a lifetime takes balls.

Where are you reading or hearing this? I have seen nothing regarding canceling this game. Nebraska plays Tennessee at home in 2016. That season Nebraska will play 5 conference games on the road and four at home so it doesn't make sense to cancel the series. There are already 3 home non conference games scheduled that season so four conference games will make 7 total home games that year. In 2017 when Nebraska goes to Tennessee to play they will have 5 home conference games.
