If the Dawgs have to travel to Fl. for a "neutral site", the Swamp Rats should travel to Ga. for a "neutral site".

Yes because if UGA didn't have to do 2 years in Aub., you WOULDN'T have both games @ home or on the road...therefore the date WOULDN'T have to change.

What they should do and what I wish the Iron Bowl would do (except that Legion Field is terrible) is a home-away-neutral rotation every three years.

I get the idea of wanting another home game, but the current setup would seem to favor UGA more than Florida. UGA gets to promise south GA and NW FL recruits a game in their area every single year. Gainesville isn't far from Jax so it doesn't really give much of a recruiting advantage to them. If I'm UGA, I keep the game in Jax as a recruiting buffer to keep FSU and UF from poaching those prized south GA and NW FL recruits too badly.

The wlocp is one of the most unique rivalries in the country precisely because of where it is played.

Few outside of Florida and Georgia care. There's nothing unique about the Jacksonville location. It's 340 miles from Athens and 75 miles from Gainesville. The Red River Rivalry is nearly equidistant to UT and OU.

Season ticket holders deserve conference games to be played home and home.

If Georgia or Florida wants out, there is nothing the other team can do about it! You can't make the other team sign a contract!

The powers that be couldn’t kill the name so they’re just gonna kill the game. Member when they tried to rename it —

and

WLOCP is the game. And neither schools’ administration ever liked it. They don’t give a shite about tradition. Just about being PC. This game was doomed years ago when the admins requested CBS not to use the title World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

The reason for the locale is for the fans, not the teams. They picked a spot where fans from Florida and Georgia can all make the game without undue burden.

So, the distance the southern-most Gator fans in Marathon must travel to see the game is 450 miles.

The distance the northern-most Dawg fans must travel to see the game is 450 miles.

And, there just happened to be a stadium right at that halfway point big enough to hold the fans of both teams... hence, Jax.

Let's not forget that the Gators played a few "home" games in Jax

good thing those people are irrelevant

both games are between in-conference rivals, with 50/50 seating, played in teh same venue since the 1930s. However, jacksonville on the river is clearly a cooler setting than a state fair in dallas. Not to mention all the ambience surrounding each. I've never been to the RRS but it's in a damn fairground and I imagine most people arrive on Friday or Saturday. Compare that to WLOCP where people plan a year ahead to make a vacation out of it, drive down on Tuesday, and can party on the beach or play golf all week leading up to it. You can say it's "not unique" but it is truly one of a kind when it comes to college football games.

Not when it would destroy 100 years of SEC history, history is bigger than john q. fan. And ticket holders get at least 5-7 other home games each year, missing out on one to head to jax isn't a problem.

IDK who UGA fans hate more, Auburn or Florida

Auburn fans are like our country cousins that are a little slow.
Florida fans are the smartass guy in school you want to slap upside the head every time you see him.

Sorry, but that is the DUMBEST reason to choose a site. Should we also change it based on UGA fans in Hawaii & UF fans in Maine?

What about in other countries?

Huh? Surely you can't be this slow. The location is based on trying to provide equal travel times for the fans of both teams... you know, the fans who pay for the tickets, concessions, hotel rooms, etc..

The travel times for the teams is irrelevant; it takes both teams an hour and a half to reach the stadium... UF on a team bus and UGA on a nice, comfortable flight. Not sure UF is getting much benefit from that deal, based on my past bus experiences.

Anyway, how else could it be decided fairly? I'm sure nobody with either school, nor the SEC office has ever pondered this conundrum before... so, we're all ears.
