He's an Auburn fan. He's only been following basketball for 3 years so he doesn't understand how that works.

What is this, bizarro world?
Half of Bama's fans aren't even aware that your football team is connected to a university, let alone that there's also a basketbal team.

Bowl, you aren't going to win this one because you're wrong. Bama isn't an example of a no history basketball program
They are the John Rocker of NCAA BBall. Once looked solid and promising only to flame out trailer trash style.
It's fitting because Kenny Powers whose based on John Rocker is exactly like most Bama fans I meet

Spot on with the analogy.
Never said they were no history though. Just that their history is for naught considering their highest achievement is still the same as ours. 1 Elite 8 apiece.
And they could win back to back basketball national championships and they'd only go from 50% of their fans being aware of the existence of their basketball program to 60% (which would still only be good for 10% of them even caring or actively following/ supporting the team)

We can only hope to cultivate the sort of historically rabid fanbase Auburn basketball is known for.

No shite, yall can't manage to sell out 3 straight home games, let alone 3 straight seasons worth of home games like we have.

So you your response is to support our argument?
Despite being SEC#5 Alabama only got to 85% capacity on avg. Auburn as SEC #11 fills up over 90% capacity. Y'all are at your ceiling and can't fill your arena as well as Auburn despite being less than an hr from most of your fanbase
I'm surprised y'all even got to 85%, when Auburn was up double digits all second half it looked closer to 25%

You are kidding, right? Auburn Arena seats almost half what Coleman Coliseum does. That's like Vanderbilt football bragging about sellouts when the stadium seats 40,000 people.
I wish our arena was around 12,000 so it'd be sold out almost every night, but the idea that filling 95% of tiny means the fanbase cares more than 85% of relatively big is...... Silly. If our arena seated 8,000 it would be packed every night (wish it did more than what we have now, but we don't have it).
What is this at our ceiling stuff? Bowl is Bowl, and that's fine, but this is stupidity Chin.

You clearly don't realize that "selling out" isn't hard. Any respectable athletics program should be selling out basketball games. Hell we did it when Barbee was coach
It isn't about how many people show up, it is the % of capacity who show up. If you have a high% empty, it means your fans either don't care to fill the seat or can't find someone to fill it for them
For example, UK/UNC/Duke fans fill their seats no matter what. Testament to their fan base quality. If they added more seats, they'd find butts to sit in them
On the other end, Mizzou doesn't fill shite. Adding more seats doesn't mean more butts
Most non blue bloods won't eat higher than 90-95% as people suck. Dropping below 90 is a problem thougb

Alright man, Bammers don't care about basketball but Auburn is all in. Got it. Great stuff there.
% of capacity matters when you need 15,000 to reach 90% on a Wednesday night at 6 PM with a NIT team playing another NIT team. Getting to 15,000 is a helluva lot harder than getting to 7,500. And even with that, and a program that has been to the NCAA tournament once in a decade, we still had Top 25 attendance. Our biggest issue is moving old Tide Pride point farts out of the best seats.

Combo of 2 things,
1- Total capacity is the most overrated way of measuring an arena/atmosphere. Plenty of blue blood programs are aroun 9-12k, few top 15k. Even for FB, Oregon Autzen stadium 60k is as loud maybe louder than any SEC stadium I've been to
2- On the rant, everyone who doesn't agree with my fan base logic is wrong and use #alternativefacts. Tell me we paid Cam, I dare you
Glad I can contribute to the Bama basketball board, keeps me up to date when I talk to some Bama friends
