Urban Meyer was fired in late August 2018 from Ohio State. He stays away for a year as his camp defends him and deflects the real blame to the AD and Zach Smith himself. Most see him as ready to return to big time coaching for the 2020 season.

Down on the bayou Coach has just wrapped up back to back 8-4 seasons in 2018 and 2019. Recruiting is stagnant and folks are ready to move on.

LSU fires Coach O in early December 2019 and hires the 55 year old Urban Meyer shortly after New Years Day 2020. What are the expectations, what is the response from the rest of the SEC and Florida specifically, and what is the general thought of LSU football moving forward?

TigerRant divides along two lines:

Pros: Everything.

Cons: He doesn't talk like us.

Not gonna happen. OSU will, at most, suspend him for the first two games of the season then act like nothing happened.

Coach O will Coach O at some point this season, and things will implode. I don't see him making it past midway through the 19 season. Meyer won't be available, and LSU will be stuck high and dry.

Why would we wait til 2020 when we could reunite him with Joey B next year? Or are you assuming Joey wins the Heisman and enters the draft?

I can't see Ohio State firing Meyer for something he wasn't directly involved in, and a potential domestic abuse cover-up isn't the same as something like Paterno's child abuse cover-up at PSU. The guy has three National Championships at age 54. Two of those were won having to go directly against the GOAT coach. There's a decent chance he can win a couple more even before Saban retires, and the guy has two more decades to match whatever Saban retires with. And he gets to try it all at a cushy job like Ohio State.

Of course, I could always be wrong. Even if OSU fires him, another ailing blue-blood will see the potential and snatch him up.

Meyer at LSU would be horrible for the rest of the SEC. He would be able to lockdown the state. And he can go into other states and get top players.

Legit scenario, but Coach O is going to blow it apart by winning a NC in the next two years.

Nice to see you back in your right mind Summer.

I need you and Herman to balance my hatred for your fan base.

Urban will never coach in the SEC again. He also will not get fired.

If I play your game and say he gets fired, then he will land at Notre Dame after a year or so when boosters see that he's available and pressure the school for a change after missing the CFP again and again.

Meyer is not going to be fired. He may not even miss a game. OSU is simply letting the media firestorm slow down some and they will reinstate him.
Big 10 is going to Big 10. Or whatever they call themselves now.
