I have a feeling that the future of the SEC is Texas vs Bama for SEC titles in the coming years!

For the love of God, it's been 12 years since you managed to win the Big12.

Then you misheard it. Dye was the king of poor mouthing his team when he was coaching. He could talk up La. Tech and make you worry about the game.

If Auburn and Alabama go to the East, LSU's division championships just become much easier! I think in time Oklahoma will become a tough year in year out game like LSU-Auburn! But I think LSU will dominate the division most years! The East will get exponentially tougher!

They're going to do the pods and not keep these divisions because the West and East would be very imbalanced and frick over some of the charter members of the conference.

At a basic dollar and common sense level, the divisions are rickety for maximizing the value of certain rotations of matchups. Whats the point of adding Oklahoma and Texas if Alabama and Auburn aren't going to play them more than 1 or 2 times a decade?

The big divisions are dead. Pods w/ top 2 records making the championship is coming.

BS. Dye was like bear and vince. To hear all three of them talk about their opponent, it is a wonder they ever won a football game.

I understand all the conversation about traditional rivalries, but THE marquee game for most of the past few years has been LSU/Bama. At night. I don’t see the new sponsor wanting to lose that to once or twice a decade.

The pod setup provides a lot of flexibility in that regard because they don't have to lock in 6 opponents on everyone's schedule. I imagine that the pod-style divisions will be able to lock in 1 or 2 interdivisional games while still leaving enough breathing room to rotate the schedules around so there are more big name matchups. I also assume they're going to add the 9th conference game.

I'm guessing that they will do some setup where each school plays their 3 pod-mates, 1 or 2 permanent games from interdivisional matchups, and 3 or 4 rotating games.

They'll make it work to maximize the money but I can definitively say there is no way 8 team divisions (7 locked matchups) works to justify adding OU and Texas with 8 or 9 games. SEC would basically need to cut the OOC down to 1 or 2 games or eliminate it entirely to maximize this move.

Why are we trying to save Mississippi schools v. Alabama schools matchups? They are not meter movers most years. They can totally do something to keep Alabama playing LSU and Auburn playing UGA - which do move the meter every year - while doing pod divisions.

Just gotta think about this like you're running a business not like a fan. They're not going to have their biggest current brands playing SCAR and Kentucky every year when they could having them playing their new big brands every half decade.
