Schloss' biggest crime here seems to be handling the press conference badly and going to a rival, other than that, we haven't seen anything that is really any different than many other coaching changes.
Honestly, after watching the press conference I suspected even more that he was leaving as he had the perfect opportunity to put the rumors to bed and he didn't.

He was a reporter.
One doesn’t have to be employed by The Times of London to be designated as such.
You may not like it; it is what it is.
It’s immaterial, anyway.
A custodian could’ve asked the question, and his response would still be shitacular.

I agree.
Instead of making Schloss out to be a Darth Vader type, these same people need to ask themselves if they'd leave for a rival school if they got the kind of money that Texas offered Schloss.
I heard it was something to the tune of 35 million over 10 years.
So who here wouldn't take (much less seriously consider taking) that kind of payday?
And yeah, I think it sucks for ATM! But sweet moolah is sweet moolah, just ask Uncle Rico.

Didn't they gloat when they hired LSU's DC away a few years ago? Can't remember his name....
John Chavis.
Speaking of Chavis, he and LSU sued each other over his buyout after he left for A&M. LSU sued him for breach of contract for being out on the road recruiting with Sumlin a month before he was officially hired. I wonder if A&M has evidence that Schloss was recruiting for Texas while still employed with A&M.

It's his own fault. He didnt have to say anything...

I'm hearing Billy Liucci knew about the deal for weeks and gave his "reporter" (lol) permission to ask the question at the presser. The question was intended to embarrass Schloss by asking him to reveal his plans at the worst possible time. Schloss interpreted the question as a big "frick you" from Liucci and the gang (Schloss and Liucci are/were apparently friends). A more interesting question is why Liucci sat on this story for so long without reporting it.

Only way to get that is from the families.
Rumors of burner phones makes it seem so planned out and secretive. Difficult to track.

I don't blame anyone for taking a better job for more money, and I don't think anyone else does either, but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Tell Texas that you and your agent will talk to them after the season is over rather than actively negotiating while your current team is on a national championship run. And if it comes out that he was also recruiting for Texas in the weeks or months leading up to this it's going to cause a shite storm.

Chin Pubes doesn't do anything with out the express permission of the A&M Administration.
It's just another illustration of the flaming shite show that A&M's administration has been since Robert Gates left to become Secretary of State in 2006.

He’s addressed this at length. Yes, he’d been hearing rumblings for months, and let the powers that be in the A.D. know about it. But he also directly asked Schloss many times along the way, as a friend. And every single time, Schloss adamantly denied it.
So during the regionals and CWS, Liucci was supposed to turn the attention away from the team and look like a spotlight-seeking glory hound by running to the media with a rumor that the person directly involved had repeatedly denied to his face? How do you think that would have gone over?

Looch is about as trustworthy as Schloss

I have no idea if they were friends or not. I do find this hard to believe based precisely on your question. What motivation would Lucci have to sit on the story? I suppose you could argue that he knew it would be disruptive and he wanted A&M to win; he is as much a fan as a "reporter".
That said, he's in the business of web traffic and advertising; breaking that story before the big boys in Dallas, Houston, and Austin would have been huge for him.
I'm just not buying that.

I don't. He has a history of being friends with anyone and everyone that he can mooch off of.
Contrast that with Brent Zwerneman, who actually will ask questions that have the potential to disrupt a season in order to get the scoop on a story.

Does it matter if the reporter or the board knew before hand? They didn't make Schloss answer the question like a freakin dickhead. That's all on Schloss.
There were plenty of options to not really say anything to that question, he chose violence.
You make a deal like that, your agent and PR team should have had him prepared with politician style answers.

He showed us all who he is. He couldn’t help it. He got pissed, and lost his cool. “Don’t you dare question me!”

Posing the question (that the "reporter" already knew the answer to) at the post-game presser essentially turned the attention away from the team and shined the spotlight directly on Schloss. Couldn't Liucci and this guy have waited at least a day before asking this question, instead of immediately after a heartbreaking loss?

Nope. He was hoping to quietly rush out of town immediately…
