I happy for you guys. Between the incredibly high incest rates, being dead last in eduction and having no professional sports teams Alabama desperately needed Nick Saban.

LSU fans dislike for EVERY former coach is never changing.
Once hated, forever hated.
(Although, there has been some unusual sympathy towards Les Miles, probably because he still has not been able to complete a coherent interview)

Saban won us a title, i cant fault the man for trying the pros.
When he was done with that Alabama was the best job available.
It is what it is.
He 100% deserves to be in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
Im glad he was here when i was a student.

i actually think this a great question! in other words, back in 07 what was the general consensus among Bammer fans re: the Saban hire, excluding 12 years of hindsight?
i'd wager that it was cautious optimism. i am sure we could go back and google it but i am more interested in hearing from some folks who were feeling the feel at the time.
my strong hunch is that Bammers were just relieved to have ANYBODY else other than Franchione and Shula.

I was disgusted by sabans hire because I knew he was the real deal. He lifted our program to a new level and there’s no doubt about it.
But I’ll give you some more truth. He could’ve done the same thing he’s done at bama at 6 other sec programs....maybe even 8.
Bama does deserve credit for identifying how good he was while at LSU and laying waste to bama.
