Let's disspell this myth that a top 10 UGA is always overrated

Below is what we've been ranked pre and post season under richt.
Year: Pre/Post
01: NR/22
02: 8/3
03: 11/7
04: 3/7
05: 13/10
06: 15/23
07: 13/2
08: 1/10
09: 13/NR
10: 23/NR
11: 19/19
12: 6/5
13: 5/NR
14: 12/9
So let's see here...
-5 times under Richt we've been preseason top 10. 4 out of those times we've also finished in the top 10.
-6 times we've been preseason ranked 11-15. 4 of those 6 times we've finished in the top 15.
-1 time we've been ranked between 16-20, and we finished in the top 20.
-1 time we've been ranked between 21-25, and finished NR.
-1 time we've started unranked, and finished in the top 25.
So honestly, it seems the like preseason polls are actually pretty damn accurate when determining our position. You can talk about "underachieving" in the sense that we aren't winning national titles, and that's fine. But that's not what this is about. This is about the narrative I keep seeing of "Media has UGA in the top 10 again...when will they ever learn!?!?"

Richt has been just as successful as Dooley has. Dooley didn't win a NC until his 17th year. It's just a product of seemingly everyone else winning around Georgia that's causing him to appear incompetent

I'd say it's extremely comparable. Richt maybe more so. The old timers will disagree, but I truly think Richt is the "best" coach we've ever had. The only reason I put best in quotes is because he doens't have the hardware dooley did. But if I have 1 game and I need a coach between those 2, I'm taking richt.

I cannot wait until UA plays UGA between the hedges I look for a close game for 3 quarters then UA will wear down UGA and Chubb will not get his 100 on Bama. Roll Tide Roll

No maybe about itCMR has more top 10 finishes and more bowl victories in his 14 years compared to VD's 25.
Also,it was much easier to win an SECC with only 6 conference games and no SECCG
Dooley also played a very favorable SEC schedule every year...Vandy,UK and Ole Miss were almost always gimmies and while AU and UT were good teams
they still had only one SECC between them up until 1983 and were no where near the powers they are now.

Another thing is that dooley had some BAD years, like really bad. Richt has only had one truly BAD year, adn a few meeeehhhhh years.

Shouldn't that be maroon pants are gay?
Was Georgia the gay team prior to 2012?

While you may have a point...a response thread is still a response thread.

Then everything is a response thread. It was a thread with facts on the topic of an issue currently being talked about.

Enough preseason top tens and you should at least appear in the title game at some point. Y'all have appeared in the top ten over the last decade more often than Auburn, and they've been there twice.

I think this is where all the perception comes from regarding Georgia.
They have come very close to getting a shot at the NC game. Alabama, Florida, LSU and Auburn have all won championships since Richt took the job, but all the teams had a little bit of luck that bounced their way that Georgia did not.

So? All that proves is that 2 times, Auburn has had national title caliber teams.
YOu "should" or shouldn't do anything, every season is brand new and stands on its own.
The whole point was that the majority of the time (80%) that we are picked in the top 10, we finish there. Nothing more.
