they might could get the Braves to come play a series or two a year in Rickwood.
Idk man, I don't see any level of facelift being enough to convince the Braves to sacrifice any home games at their state of the art 41k stadium in order to play in a 115 yr old stadium that only seats 10k in another state. Let alone for an entire series, or a couple of series a year.
And think about how high the demand for tickets would be if the Braves decided to play a game in Birmingham, they would sell out a 50k stadium here, it would be a waste to have them play in front of only 10k
I actually saw the Braves and Hank Aaron, Rico Carty, and Felipe Alou play a game at Rickwood. Yeah, I'm that old.

No logical reason to play there
Traffic would be worse…
Just no … and I live in Bham

Lol. Well it’s a shame the City of B’ham couldn’t come up with a plan to help out with parking and figure a way of getting more seats in. I’m sure MLB would be open to doing something there like they have done in Iowa with the FOD game. They at the very least might can get some team there to play during spring training.

UAB a the Bham Barons are not close to a Sec Tournament quality. Not a good idea

Yeah, well I saw Michael Jordan play at the Hoover Met

My son played there in a perfect game tourney last year. It was a Hoover tourney but each travel team had 1 game scheduled on that field. Fun time for sure. Mound was flat and original dimensions if not changed makes that field huge. Left field 405 ft, center field 470ft, and right field 334ft. That would be a great idea though.

Oldest active park in America. Reggie Jackson, Vida Blue, Rollie Fingers, Sal Bando, Babe Ruth, Satchell Page, Willie Mays, Catfish Hunter, Ty Cobb all played there. It has more history than any park in America not named Yankee Stadium.
BUT, that was a different time. I would play in godforesaken, death trap Memphis before I played the tourney there.

MLB didn't let the Barons play there this year due to the new rules about minor league parks taking effect. They should at least allow that one game every year. It was cool.

What would you think if the SEC moved the baseball tournament from the Met in Hoover to Rickwood Field in B’ham?
For those of you that do not know Rickwood is the oldest baseball park in the country. It has a lot of history behind it. I think UAB plays one game a year at Rickwood. I’m not really a baseball fan at all but I think it would be kinda cool to hold the SEC tournament there and may even show up to go to a game. I bet all the players involved would enjoy it. Let everyone wear throwback uniforms. I bet the players would enjoy that a lot.
no, fans don't want it in B'ham period. Its a crappy city with not much to do. Plus the throwback jersey idea would never happen at a tournament that half the teams don't want to be at, and the other half are taking really seriously.
Move it somewhere that allows families to do more than just baseball.
