No, winning 8 games and then embarassing a top ten team in a bowl to win 9 games in one year is not pathetic.

Going 3-9 and going 0-8 in conference is PATHETIC.

Going for the big hit. Doesn't always work. IMO.

I do like the gang tackling from Chavis though it seemed to be less effective in recent years. There was a time when UT was effective in standing the runner/receiver up so the 2nd or 3rd guy in could strip the ball.

Keep in mind, my opinion is slanted due to the lack of talent (I blame Fulmer, Chavis, and Sanders) in recent years on Rocky Top.

I would have been content to make a change at the top and keep Chavis on for a few more years.

I don't think we can complain with Monte Kiffin instead of Chavis. Tennessee will be fine on defense. We shall see what the other side of the ball looks like.

I'm a big fan of big hitting myself. It tends to help with dropped passes in the short passing game. If that comes with the occasional miss and pick up an extra 10 yards so be it.

You shouldn't blame Fulmer for the recruiting short comings recently. The problem was both carolina's as well as Bama and GA have hired proven coaches that are recruiting the better talent in their home states that Phil use to recruit. TN doesn't produce much talent, sort of like Arkansas. You guys probabaly won't ever get back to winning like you did with Phil but 7-5 to 8-4 regular season should start being about the norm around there.

Part of what Fulmer claimed that he would bring to the table was nationwide recruiting. Every coach at TN knows this is a prerequisite to success. Although, I agree that Spurrier and Richt have held a few more players at home, I don't think this is the primary reason for the dropoff. I think the loyalty on Fulmer's part allowed his staff to get complacent and lazy. That being said, the old staff could not even keep the best players from TN at home. Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss, and USC have gotten the top player in the state for several years now.

What has happened in Oxford that gives you the audicity to speak on anyone's coach. Especially one that has accomplished as much as Miles has in 4 years?

What the frick does that matter? I guess it would matter if TVs and radios didn't exist and I only got to watch Ole Miss. Considering this isn't 1860, I think I can make such an observation.

Something to add on top of it though, Les Miles delivers in bowl games. Seems to go against the original point.

2010 LSU could do it. That will be the test of this little thesis.

I think he won't. This is like a chemistry experiment though. That will be the test of my thesis. He should have the pieces that year to get it done. If he doesn't, it will in my mind validate the notion he won't win another one. If he does, it proves me wrong.

I like the chemistry. Stellar recruiting. Barring one catastrophic coordinator decision (lots of moving parts on that one, I'll give him a pass) some great coaching hires. And inspirational leadership.

I say 2010 the stars would be aligned. Guess we'll see.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm thinking. I'm floating this idea early just to get a little reaction, and to be on record. So if I do happen to be right, I can have proof of being right. Sure I may have to eat crow, but it's cool.

Duke...

In case you missed it, I know you're busy with focusing on Miles and LSU, but here's what's happening with your program, currently.

It's a secondary violation. Oh noes! We're getting the death penalty, I just know it.

Like I didn't already see it. I just didn't think it was as important or nearly as interesting to discuss.
