Alabama finished number 2 in the final BCS standings

Which is based on a human component of the system which forced them in.

The next time, we did. Weird melt.

I'm afraid you can only right that wrong in a National Championship game vs BAMA. Superdome is optional.

Is LSU going to stop claiming the 2001 SEC Championship since Tennessee beat your arse during the regular season?

A team has to cross midfield more than once in a game to use the "we wuz screwed" excuse.

Just FYI this is false. Alabama was number 2 in 4 of the 6 computer polls.

Record against Alabama:
Les Miles - 5-7
Phillip Fulmer - 10-5-1
Yeah but only 2 games of Fulmer vs Bama was Fulmer vs Saban, and 0-2 on those. Beating Shula not equal to beating Saban.

LSU has a better recruiting base, so easier to get the athletes. Miles was not a better coach, just in a better place.

There never was any rule that "you don't have to beat the same team twice." Totally made up. Didn't apply in the BCS.

You're not wrong, but keep in mind that the BCS people were dismissing the need for a full playoff system, "because under the BCS every regular season game acts as a playoff game." By that rationale, LSU had already eliminated Bama from those pseudo-"playoffs" by winning the regular season game. The BCS ended up caving in to ESPN's demands and let the rematch happen, but in the process that also contributed to finally killing off the BCS itself, since it was obvious that only having real playoffs could prevent that situation from happening again.

This is all kind of silly, because Fulmer coached UTenn like 50% longer than Miles coached LSU; of course Fulmer will have more of everything. Also, the SEC East was weaker competition back in the 1990s (basically just UF and UTenn) than the SEC West was when Miles coached there.
