Being happy with a good recruit is one thing. Acting like it's an actual victory over a rival is another, especially when that recruit isn't really spectacular or anything.

Fact is, he chose Auburn with an offer from Alabama. Dispute that, please.

And that my friend, is the one and only thing Arky football program can hang their hat on. "We beat AU two years in a row" , That's it, nothing else you can say to vouche for your program.

actually I can say we beat you 3 out of 4...most likely 4 out of 5...

The bottom line is:
He's not a "Big Cat" in Auburn's class.
He's a more solid pick up than most bammers will admit.
His commitment to Auburn isn't a sign that Chizik has passed Saban as a recruiter.
He's a guy who will see the field on a regular basis by his Sophomore season but probably won't be a game changer.

Solid 3-star pickup, Aubie.

Pretty much in agreement with this summary. He may end up a 4 star or a 3 star, who knows, but bottom line, a nice solid pick up, but not a top of the board guy for AU or Bama. He has a much better shot at playing time at AU simply due to depth at LB, so smart move.

He was a die hard Bama fan til he visited AU and saw what it was about. What's so unbelievable about that?

Hell, I thought Tuscaloosa was a hell hole city until I actually visited, now my impression of TTown is totally different.

The article states he is a "lifelong die-hard Alabama fan". Alabama just so happens to be reigning national champions and they offered him a scholarship. He turned down what he's been hoping for his whole life to go play for a rival? It doesnt make any sense.

Why are you so invested in this piggy?

Here you go

Bama has an army of LBs. Saban recruits LBs and DEs like they're going out of style. With a thicker LB depth chart and better LBs with Bama offers on the bama board, picking Auburn at this time is the better choice. Good chance he'll play a lot more at Auburn than at Bama. Its a numbers game. Simple as that.

That's fine, like I said, Arky's biggest accomplishment is a few victories over AU, that's it.

And I'm still waiting on that link to Frazier's dad "calling out AU sites"

Agree with this. Congrats on the pickup Aubies.

"Alabama hasn't pushed for him. Before I hear it from the conspiracy crowd, Alabama did want Reese Dismukes so this isn't sugarcoating a loss.
Alabama has commitments from Shannon Brown and Brent Calloway at linebacker already and stands in good shape with Trey DePriest and have a shot with James Vaughters and Curtis Grant. If they pushed, they would be in good shape with AJ Johnson. I think Landrum would have had to camp and excelled to have a spot." per Shane at BOL.

Some kids just want to play, and want to play soon. Bama may be his favorite team of all time, but playing ball may be more important to him than rooting for his favorite team on the sidelines. Sometimes these kids actually throw some logic together and choose what will be best for their future goals. Only idiots out there are the ones assuming that his choosing the barn is an insult to Bama and means anything in regards to which of the two schools is "Superior" in some way.

Just b/c it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean it doesn't make sense to Landrum.

Like Landrum said, he was a die hard Bama fan until he visited AU. Now he likes AU more. What's so hard to figure out?

He's not the only player to visit AU and then rave about it after he leaves.

We'll know whether or not he's a true Bama fan if - as the clock winds down in his first iron bowl - he claps when Bama wins.

Try again

It wasn't about the depth chart for Landrum. He said although the Tigers are in need of linebackers, it didn't have anything to do with his decision.

"It didn't matter to me what positions they needed or who they have on the roster," Landrum said. "It was more about me feeling comfortable there and being able to get a good education there.

"It was more about me wanting to attend Auburn and be a Tiger."
