He has won more than 10 games as the head coach at Auburn only 1 time: his first season. Those weren't even his players, and he needed two flukey games against UGA and Bama to even get to the SEC title game. Auburn has not won more than 10 games since 2013, and cannot do so this year either.

Unless you think 7 and 8 win seasons is the best Auburn can do (with a ceiling of ten wins), I'm not sure how anyone could claim Makzahn has been a "good" coach at Auburn. His only 2 bowl victories have been the Birmingham and the Music City bowls.

Might want to check your facts on that.

there was no way they would have been able to run his team onto the field once the chains were set and get the kick off

I don't get this. Gus had all the time it took them to review the play to get his FG team on the field and ready for the ref to start play.

If they had called it right to begin with, you would be right, but they didn't, they had to review the play to put one second back on the clock.

He got them to review so he could line up for fg. Pretty genius imo

True, but they also should have started the clock while the ref was still over the ball. If the refs handle that correctly, Auburn cannot get the play off.

This is also a false statement. The NCAA rule book is online and can be found via google.

I see the demarcation now...not use to a CFB fan not using 10 wins a marker. You are wrong about the rule of when the ball would be snapped.

Hey man, if that's your ceiling then cool. Beating Bama and getting to 10 wins every few seasons is all you'll ever be with Gus. Congrats. You've got your wish.

No, I'm not. It should run just as it would in a live game. Ref sets the ball, winds the clock, and gets out of the way. They instead handled it like they would if the previous play had been an incomplete pass or a time out had been called by Auburn or Bama.

ETA: This didn't decide the game so I don't really care either way, but I am not wrong about how it should have been handled.

It was a stall tactic to get a free TO and it worked. I don't blame Gus, that's his job. There never should have been a review to start with, the officials should have recognized it for what it was and said halftime. I agree with the Fat Kid too. They blew it every way there was.

There will probably be a rule change to make sure this can't happen again, but it's a little late.

Not quite, the ref has to actually set the ball, not just be standing over it. Auburn could've snapped it as soon as it was set, but the the ref would've gotten his shite knocked out, so they wait to start the clock to give the ref time to get out from between the 300 pound monsters.

It also looked like they set the clock to where the player was down instead of when his forward momentum was stopped. Gus was right, it should've been two seconds.

This is just wrong.

Plus you aren't even factoring that it was a first down and chains had to be set anyway.
