Its crazy, as a Gamecock I had known that Lattimore was a class act and did some charity work but since this injury people have really been digging up how deep it goes. Here is a CBS write up about. Made me respect Latt more than I already had.

Lots of us didn't know, but part of that is Lattimore's fault. He's not one of those guys who tells everyone how great he is. What kind of guy is Lattimore? This kind: He's from the northwest part of South Carolina known as the Upstate, and last year he heard about another USC student from the Upstate who was badly injured after being hit by a car. Unprompted and uninvited, Lattimore showed up at the kid's hospital room. Just to check on the kid and visit with the family. The only reason anyone found out was because the kid's mother gushed about it on social media. Lattimore's coaches found out from reporters.

Lattimore didn't tell his coaches what he was doing because, well, sometimes they stop him -- and not because his coaches are heartless. That's not the point of this anecdote. The point is, his coaches try to limit his volunteering engagements because Lattimore spreads himself thin.

The best part is he doesn't do it for the attention or so he can hear how great he is.

I don't have many inside sources in the SEC, but my bosses son is the QB coach at sc, GA Mangus, and she said he has been in really high hopes and that he will come back and play for South Carolina, that he's made a promise to spurrier and that he will lead them to an sec championship. Said he's more determined than ever to come back and this will not stop him.

That's awesome. Thanks for that tidbit. Feel free to share anything else you hear from GA's family!

I really wish him the best and hope he recovers. He is an amazing talent and from all accounts an even better person.

I'm not sure he has a "propensity" for injury. I think the same thing happens to anybody who takes a hit like that one.

No question about this specific tackle and injury. I just meant, generally, it seems like he's been down a lot (LSU has players like that). For a running back, particularly, it seems like a pattern of lower leg injuries normally starts the clock. I was merely suggesting that he has probably already done the calcululus, "What if I can't play football again?", and unlike a lot of top tier FBS players with NFL aspirations, Lattimore is in the group of kids who will shrug it off and become a successful car dealer, real estate broker, pitch man, analyst, whatever he decides he wants to do, rather than peak at 22 and have the rest of his life be a huge disappointment to himself and everbody around him.

I'm on record as being a Marcus Lattimore fan - probably my favorite player in the conference, other than LSU players - it is close between Lattimore and Aaron Murray.
