For reference:

Eisenhower was president

The act that established creation of the interstate highway system had not been passed yet

The Korean War had ended just 2 years before

And as Grits pointed out: Georgia Tech and Tulane were still in the SEC
Pretty long time.

Florida had a winless season in 1979 so we must not have played one of the two schools

Correct. Tennessee and Florida appear to have played significantly less often prior to the creation of the championship game

One of my favorites!

Fixed the southern border issue without hiring more border patrol and without building a wall!

Unknown to most, a handful of companies based in central KY did most of that construction

Like yesterday to me

You forgot to mention the SEC was at 12 members and Georgia Tech and Tulane were still in the SEC.

It has only been 16 years since Aggy’s most recent national title.
