His defense got lit up regularly. But that’s also at a time when Bama had one of the best offenses in the sport.

Saban thought the absolute world of Pete Golding and his ability

I got banned in 2019 from the Alabama forum for debunking Crimson Bozo's claims he was going to be fired and pointing out the truth about Golding.

Alabama fans hated the frick outta me. I gave 0 shits as usual.

Based on the title, I think the explanation is as follows:.

While at Ole Miss, before Pete Golding became the DC, Lane Kiffin's record as the head coach was 23-13. And then, when Pete Golding became the DC, Lane's head coach record was 32-6 as Ole Miss's head coach. I hope this helps.

That was a disappointing game. I’ve seen better games since.

Will LSU be completely broke after they pay Kelly's and Kiffin's buyouts? I mean, they're just finishing up Orgeron's.

Just going strictly by AD vibes, Ole Miss is the best job in the SEC.

Keith Carter is the best AD in the county, and every head coach we have in every sport is successful, and in love with the place.

I feel like Lane has prioritized his mental health, and has been around long enough to see that places like Gainesville and Baton Rouge have no peace to offer him; only more stress.

I know the smooth-brained among us won’t understand, but don’t discount this factor.

Oxford is an S-tier college town in 2025, and the results bear that out.

Alabama defensive efficiency ranks according to F+ (combination of FEI and SP+)

2007 25th
2008 4th
2009 1st
2010 1st
2011 1st
2012 1st
2013 3rd
2014 3rd
2015 1st
2016 1st
2017 2nd
2018 2nd

2019 9th
2020 14th
2021 7th
2022 6th

2023 6th
2024 8th
2025 10th

2019-2022 is Pete Golding. Does this answer your question?

Ole Miss under Lane Kiffin:
2020 109th
2021 24th
2022 43rd
2023 27th
2024 4th
2025 34th

Golding had the best year of his career by a mile in 2024. His other 2 defenses at Ole Miss were worse than Durkins 2nd year.

Also in his career year he gave 3 4th down conversions on the final drives in regulation against Kentucky and LSU to ultimately lose both of those when winning either of them would have had them in the playoff.

You gave up 25.6 points per loss.

Kiffin literally gave the Runts their best 6 year run since the 60's and they're just here to shite on him because he's mean and somehow had nothing to do with turning them around. Awesome.

-edited because reasons-

Every last one of you Ole Miss fans would be pumping up Lane right now had he not bolted for your biggest rival on the eve of the CFP.

Just be happy your team is mostly intact. Michigan basketball was in a similar situation long ago and won the whole damn thing after their coach bolted and their AD refused to let him coach in the tourney.

It could happen. The Rebs might get hot. You never know. Focus on that instead of building a salt dome in Oxford.
