This is why he really fricked up by saying no to Auburn:

We know Bama will not fall much when Saban leaves, we know that LSU will only get better under Kelly, we know that A&M has the money and the recruits to turn them around soon. Now AU will only get better by hiring Freeze. I have said from day one I wanted Freeze and some PTB wanted him. Now we will see.

Kiffin now will have a hard time trying to upgrade himself with Ole Miss. I had come to AU, I knew he was always looking for a bigger job.

Lane is probably headed back to the NFL next year or the year after, assuming he maintains an 8/9 win average.

Why? If you saw him at the end of the season, no NFL program will want to touch him.

Kiffin is not about money, he is all about ego.

I think as long as he gets a living wage after Layla gets her share, he's gotta be happy. Ole Miss isn't a terrible place to coach to be honest.

If Lane wanted to be in the NFL he never would've left.

No NFL team is going to spend over $9 millon per year on any college coach.

Kiffin's salary at Ole Miss is equal to 5th place in current NFL head coach salaries. Now he may be willing to take a pay cut but not a significant one.

Totally different job. Much less of a pace and there are many other sources of income for NFL HCs.

He signed a contract making himself a top 10 paid coach in all of college football and created generational wealth for his family but made a huge mistake. I’ve got bad news for you man. Nobody outside of Southeast Alabama or West Georgia really gives a frick about that ice cream at Toomer’s drug store. No one.

They don't have to. If they get anywhere close, it will be enough. It's a completely different gig.

No way Bama hires a 8-4 coach, whose record will not get better at Ole Miss.

He went 10-2 last year and could've easily gotten there again this year if 2 plays go differently.

If any good coaches had wanted the Auburn job, I’m sure y’all would’ve hired one.
