Post says Kling "hasn't panned out yet". He is transferring because he wants to start somewhere.
Couldnt' start at LSU and headed out to school where there is less competition.. Probably a good decisiion. Not sure what JJ could have done to keep him other than give him an undeserved starting position.
JJ might not give 2 fricks about leaving TBH.

He was also passed by true freshmen which kind of defeats your whole talking point.
And that’s because Little JJ couldn’t develop him. Let’s see how he does when he goes to another school. If he improves drastically, then you have your answer on the development part. But if not, and he still stays the same, then it’s obvious it was JJ.

He was throwing 98-100 mph before he even got to LSU.
Doesn't seem to be true.

Soon Skenes not only had developed a better slider, but he had added considerable speed to his fastball. Suddenly a fastball that had usually topped out around 95 mph at Air Force was zinging across the plate at 100 mph or more.

Cam Johnson is a freshman, technically 3 years left.
Chase Burns was a major recruit that developed from a starter to a midweek guy, heck of a job by TV…….

The only one that entered the portal that was an impact player was Burns. Everyone else didn’t see the field or was hurt. Top prospects don’t normally transfer after a year. Burns and Vitello butted heads and Burns left because he didn’t get what he wanted. And it’s obvious, Burns followed the wrong advice.

He started the season off as the starter and lead off hitter. And as the season progressed he was used as a defensive replacement late in games.

Dutton was a freshman when JJ accepted the job. I get that PM recruited him, but he’s spent the last 3 years with JJ!
No, you didn’t. You just throw a bunch of shite against the wall and get bodied in every one of these troll threads you start. I realize y’all have only been following college baseball for a few years but you’re out of your depth trying to debate with LSU fans.

So guys transfer from LSU and it’s because the coach sucks, transfer from Tennesse and it’s because they suck. Makes sense…….

well none of the players who have entered the portal from LSU are impact players. So, again, what's your point?

Burns was never a mid week guy dumbass. Burns would have been a 1st round pick his freshman and sophomore year at Tennessee if eligible. Burns pitched on the weekends and was out in a role that he best excelled at. He was a selfish player and didn’t like the role Vitello had for him, which was same role that Causey was in and finished 13-3 this year.
Burn’s leaving actually helped Tennessee more than it helped Burns. After Vitello moved Burns to the bullpen and bring him on as a long reliever for 5-7 innings, it turned the season around. Vitello even admitted that he knew Burns was leaving before the season was even over with.
Burns leaves and he kisses Omaha. Tennessee is in Omaha without Burns and having a better season. Burns needed UT and Vitello more than UT needed him. If you look at Burns games over the last 3 years you will notice after he gets to 65-75 pitches he falls off big. So Vitello moves him to the pen and brings him in the game in 3rd or 4th inning and he finishes the game. Where as before, he was coming out of the game between the 5th-7th inning. Vitello using him like this used less pitching and sat him up for success. His ERA as a starter last year was north of 5.00. When he went to the bullpen and still pitched as many innings, it was 1.2.

Skenes got better by coming to LSU. He says he did, the stats say he did, and you're the only dumbass that thinks he didn't.

Another Little JJ Recruit not working out. 2 high rated guys out of high school and both go to BR and don’t get developed both hit the portal last two days. Doesn’t matter how talented you are out of high school if JJ can’t develop the talent.

People keep spinnign the transfers as a negative but I see it as JJ learning from mistakes. He put a lot of faith in guys like Kling developing into good players. This year it seems like he's not putting all his eggs in returning guys stepping up basket. Hes gonna bring in HS, JUCO, and transfers with no promises to returning guys. May the best man win the job. Last year he slotted Kling and a few other sin as every day starters and it bit him in the butt. He's not gonna do that again.

I know, he sends players to the pros as much as anyone. From 2019-2022, the Vols' 26 selections rank third amongst SEC teams in that span.
1st round picks under Vitello:
Doolander Top 10
Drew Gilbert
Jordan Beck
Garrett Crochet
Future 1st rounders:
Billy Amick
Christian Moore
Drew Beam
Vitello 1st year at HC was 2018. From 2017- 2018 the Vols had 7 picks total. Then 2019-2020 season Vols have 12 drafted. And jsut the last 2 season the Vols have had 18 drafted for 2022 and 2023 seasons. Vitello doesn’t have an issue sending players to the MLB!

Throwing 98-100mph is an impact player. You don’t see kids transfer from big time schools that have an elite arm unless your at a services academy and you don’t want to be locked into services after your 3rd year instead of playing pro ball.
Kling was highest rated recruit in LSU history to sign when signed. He was expected to have a big impact this year for LSU and for some reason it didn’t work out. There are 4 guys there was projected to be impact players and for whatever reason it did t work out. We will take Aiden Moffett and let Anderson fix him.
