Most of Saban's staff can't stand him but he is an excellent coach and he can get you places. Smart is a damn good DC but gets minimal credit due to working under Saban. The ONLY reason he is still at Alabama right now is there are a few major programs that might open up next year and he's first in line for one of those jobs. If they piss him off enough he can walk and I don't blame him.

like college players going to play for Bob Knight at Indiana in the 70's to the 2000 season, you know what you were getting into. Every Saban assistant knows he's a horse's behind. But he is a winner and will show you how to win.

My point was to imply Saban doesn't care for Smart is nuts.

Just talking in reference to the link. I have no idea if he was pissed off. I'm just talking about Saban is not known for treating his assistants well, he is known as a very good coach that can spring board someone's career.

Smart was offered several jobs this year but is in line for two major programs that could very well open up next year. Smart decided to stay at Alabama and see if something better opens up. I would not blame him if he lost it with Saban one day and walked, he won't do it IMO but I wouldn't blame him.

You do realize that coaches have followed him from MSU to LSU to Fins to Bama? Not everyone needs to sit around and feel good and sing Kumbaya with their HC...

Um, zero assistants followed Saban from East Lansing to Baton Rouge.

Damn, you're right. Bobby Williams took over as HC. I think he is from NO, and that had me messed up.

Yup. I'm not bagging on Saban but was merely pointing out that Saban is not known to be so dearly loved by his assistants. They respect him but most will tell you working for him is pure hell, but great for your career.

With his "one voice" stance, how do you know this? Any ex-assistants on record you would care to point us to? Surely you're not just going by what is "well known"? If that is the case, then it is "well known" that AU paid for Cam. See how dumb that is?

Sounds like muckraking by journalists.
Losing out on an out of state recruit is no grounds for termination.

Is that why Sunseri and Williams came back or Smart has been with him since LSU? Why is Burton Burns still on staff? Saban should have drove him off already right?
