Kirby accused a a little negative recruiting per Dallas Morning News.......

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher sat in front of reporters in College Station and reflected how uneventful Wednesday's national signing day was for the Aggies. But that might have changed once Fisher started to bask in the highest-ranked signing class since A&M joined the SEC six years ago,

Fisher took a few verbal jabs at Georgia, which tried to flip A&M quarterback signee Zach Calzada before the 72-hour signing period opened Wednesday. As Fisher insinuated Georgia tried to sway Calzada with false information, the A&M coach made another subtle point -- he's willing to battle any program in order to build a title contender.

If Fisher didn't make that point by signing all but three players committed to the No. 3 class in the country, it became obvious as he described the situation involving Georgia and Calzada.

"Some of it is gamesmanship," Fisher told reporters. "Some of it is unnecessary and ridiculous because it is trying to trick a kid. I think you ought to give them the information so they can get their future set."

After Georgia was set to lose freshman quarterback Justin Fields and have one scholarship quarterback on its roster, reports indicated the Bulldogs were going to make a push for Calzada, who committed to Fisher and the Aggies in June.

In a sense, Georgia was returning the favor.

Shortly after Fisher was hired by the Aggies last December, he made a late push to sign Fields, a 5-star recruit according to 247Sports.com's composite ranking. Fisher also came close to hiring Georgia offensive coordinator James Coley during the offseason, but the Bulldogs enticed Coley to stay with a raise.

According to the Columbus (Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer, Coley cited his relationship with Georgia coach Kirby Smart.

"I have a lot of respect for him," Coley said. "I've got the same respect for Jimbo. I think he's going to do a great job. But I just thought I was a better fit here."

When asked about Coley's decision to stay during SEC spring meetings, Fisher was understanding. However, after Georgia tried to add Calzada to its second-ranked class according to 247Sports' composite ranking, Fisher wasn't as amicable.

"I'm not a dog-and-pony recruiter," Fisher said. "I'm not a circus act when we recruit."

The A&M coach said he tried to negate any doubt in Calzada's mind by reassuring of him of his importance to the Aggies' roster.

Fisher's sharp comments could stem from the fact he knows the Aggies have to recruit as well as anyone in the country in order to win their first conference championship since 1998. And even though A&M has its highest-ranked signing class since the modern ranking era started, Wednesday was also a reminder of the task ahead of Fisher.

Alabama, one of the Aggies' SEC West rivals and the nation's top program, signed the No. 1 class, according to 247Sports' composite ranking. Georgia was second, with A&M coming in third. After the signing window closes Friday, schools will have a chance to finalize their recruiting classes when the regular period begins Feb. 6.

Fisher's first full recruiting cycle as A&M's coach featured battles against the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs. Next season, the Aggies will have a chance to do the same on the field. The Aggies host Alabama on Oct. 12 and travel to Sanford Stadium to face Georgia on Nov. 23.

The comments Fisher made on Wednesday likely won't be forgotten when the Aggies face Smart and the Bulldogs for the first time since joining the SEC. But it also shows A&M fans their coach isn't afraid to recruit against the best and fight top programs, a necessary trait in the nation's toughest conference.

"To win a championship, especially in football, you have to have a team full of [good] players," Fisher said. "You can't just have a couple."

And Jimbo is otherwise a man of upstanding morals.

What a baby

Kirby Smart is a classy guy and true southern gentleman. Not sending Christmas cards is a low class, passive aggressive, West Virginian move. Typical.

These guys are engaging in a cut-throat business. Whether I like Kirby Smart's recruiting tactics, or not, is irrelevant; Bama (and all of the other schools) have to out recruit him, because the guy is a force.

As far as being ranked 1, 2, 3, or 4 in recruiting, it doesn't seem to matter to me. I think you could throw a towel over the recruiting classes of Bama, UGA, A&M, and LSU and not know the difference.

We'll have a better idea who won the recruiting race in a couple of years....on the field.

Slow clap for Jimbo

2019 is going to be a very interesting year in the SEC. Folks are coming after The King. We'll see.

Jimbo better get thicker skin. No recruit is off limits until the LOI is signed and delivered.

Geez...If only he had been this salty to Candi when he was being cucked by a 20 grand a year personal trainer.

All kidding aside, I live down here in Seminole land, and Jimbo was doing the same shite when he was here. It was just easier for him to recruit when Clemson was about the only team he had to worry about.

Now he has a shitload of other good teams in this conference to worry about and recruit against, and it ain't as easy.

We all know Kirby is a scumbag when it comes to recruiting.

He will tell a kid any lie to get him and promise every single commit a starting job.

Once that kid signs the dotted line, it's over. However, once word gets out about his tactics, it will bite him in the arse.

The reactions from across the college football world to UGA no longer being run by a choir boy are simply breathtaking.

Kirby is paid a lot of money to do what’s best for UGA’s program, not to passively respect the wishes of the rest of the conference. frick everyone else. UGA has needed that attitude for years.

You are correct. The difference is player development, and that's where Alabama is unrivaled.

Word on the street is Nick Saban used Holyfields draft grade and him likely returning to school is ammunition to keep Sanders with a more inviting depth chart. So while y’all can pretend y’all don’t negative recruit - we all know youre full of shite.

I think it's pretty obvious that Kirby employs some pretty county recruiting tactics. As a Georgia fan, you'd have to love it.

For the rest of us, it's pretty annoying. But again, that should only excite Georgia fans

You're a stupid gump. Smart spent most of his career working for a soulless mercenary who will lie, cheat and steal to win a recruit or a game, and you're going to spew that BS. Get the hell out of here with that crap.

Can we even trust anything Georgia fans say about recruiting this cycle?

Holy late swing and miss, batman.
