Spurrier was the same way with Georgia. Got his arse kicked as a player and took it out on us as a coach, which just so happened to include Kirby’s time as a player at Georgia.
It’s all coming full circle now, isn’t it?
Funny how that works.

This is not good news for Florida. After the year 1 mulligan, Kirby is 3-1 vs Florida and the loss was quite flukey *****.

Given that he would not leave Bama to come work for Richt, I always wondered whether he is a true Georgia fan.
Coaches are mercenaries just like most professionals. We will all go across the street for a better job.
All things being equal, would Smart prefer to coach at UGA? Probably. But if another school had offered more money and potential for success when he was looking for his first HC job, he would have gone elsewhere.
Programs are no different. UGA wouldn’t have even spoken to Kirby if he had been a horseshite DC at Texas-El Paso.
There’s too much money in major college football to be sentimental. If the stars align for an alumnus to return, it’s just a nice perk.

I mean all coaches do it
That stuff belongs in locker room only but easier said than done these days
Saban did it all the time
You can bet Fla will use it all offseason and lead up to next game
I got to see the locker room speech for the rematch against UGA in SEC title game back in 2003 from Saban - there was plenty of cussing and making their arse quit in that one

A true uga person would rather be the uga head coach than a fired DC.

get it's football, but it's also life. Any and every coach in every sport has an express obligation, more than even winning, to build character in those they lead. THAT is the true reason to compete. To find and make better those parts of yourself and your teammates over the course of practices and playing the games that makes one better in the long run
Are you saying Kirby isn't doing this? Are you basing this conclusion off a 30 second snapshot of a halftime speech against his biggest rival?
These two things aren't mutually exclusive.
UGA fans are reminded it's ALL about championships on a daily basis on this board but what makes you think one's "betterment" can't be achieved by winning championships? I believe almost all the great CFB coaches have preached both.Saban continually talks about a player's self improvement and growth over the course of their time at Bama as does Kirby with his players.
Once again, you're taking a 30 second snapshot from a HALFTIME speech against his biggest rival to make a point about his "discipline" The most intense and animated I ever saw my HS or CFB coaches were during halftime.
