It’s obvious it doesn’t stop infection or transmission so protocols make zero sense.

Eta not that there should be any protocol

Most positives they've ever had:

"Georgia had reported that 90 percent of its players and staff had been vaccinated, but that apparently didn’t help them avoid a rash of positive virus tests this week.
Head coach Kirby Smart said that the Bulldogs now have more positive tests than they have ever had before.
Indeed, the team has lost so many players and staffers to the coronavirus list that coach Smart said he is very concerned, USA Today reported

He said in an interview that we had a spike. He said we went from 0 to 5, so he considers that a spike. Also...the 5 number includes coaches etc and we have heard that all scholarship players are vaccinated...only some walk ons are not.

The media strikes again.

That said, we all know that vaccinated people can contract the virus, so who knows. But it appears as if player wise it is 2 maybe three, and those may or may not be scholarship players.

So that’s where you learned how to spin your disingenuous BS. Makes sense.

Makes you wonder how only back ups and walk ons catch the virus.

I thought if you're 90% vaccinated you didn't have to undergo these routine tests? Or were these guys feeling like shite and got tested anyway?

I think (I don't really know all the ins and outs) that our trainer (Ron Courson) was feeling bad, got tested and was positive. I am guessing the walk ons who were not vaccinated (Guessing this) were tested and came up positive.

This gathered from reports, interviews and a dash of speculation.

it's on a bunch of websites that are simply quoting what Kirby said in his press conference this week, his comments being very vague. Every article I've seen looks basically the same.

His comments were vague?

“I’ll be honest with you guys, I’m as concerned as I’ve ever been because we have three or four guys out,” Smart said on Monday. “We have a couple of staff members that have been out with COVID here recently. For us, we’re at our highest spike.”

Seems pretty straight forward to me. That was directly from the article.

The cheif of staff of their medical team tested positive before the Clemson game. I'm guessing that's where the spread is coming from.

The spread is coming from everywhere. Delta is much more contagious.

Maybe, but it was Tennessee media that said UT had cause to fire Jeremy Pruitt, yet nobody knows what that cause was. How long has it been now?

If you’re vaccinated, you only have to test if showing symptoms.

Because they were unvaccinated?

Is there a big mystery?

"We're talking about breakthroughs," Smart said.

I don't understand what 'breakthroughs' are, I guess. What is a 'breakthrough'?

The protocols around Covid are, thankfully, designed to keep vaccinated players playing football. Unles they appear sick or feel sick, they don’t have to test..doesn’t matter if they were sharing a botttle of water with a person who was infected. Less tests = more football.

If they tested/contact traced everyone …no teams would be playing

Symptomatic positive of a vaccinated person. It’s nicer than saying the jab didn’t work.

My understanding is that Dr Courson was vaxed but still tested positive. I think this is the case with another staffer as well. They haven’t commented on what players may have tested positive. But the protocols pretty much ensure that most positive tests will come from unvaxxed.
