Kind of like the ACC's thinking on non conference scheduling

They may schedule some non conf ACC games against each other.
If a SEC team is having trouble finding a suitable non conf opponent why not schedule another SEC team from the other division you might not play as much.

Teams from the West would be standing in line to play in Nashville, while teams from the East would be begging for the chance to play in Starkville.

Well, some teams would play 8 conference games and some 9.

Stupid idea for the SEC. Why should we go out and play an LSU or bama or someone that isn't already on our schedule, if it doesn't even count in the standings? You win..cool, all you get is a W in that column same as if you'd played NM State. You lose..now you're pretty much out of the playoff picture. And you still have to play the rest of your SEC games.

I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed. If two schools want to do that, it should be their choice imo

All of this.
However, the ACC knows that to get in that Final 4 they need to boost thier schedules bec they have weaker teams. GT playing UNC as a non conference would look better in the eyes of the committee than if they played Ga Southern.
SEC teams do not need that boost bec we play in the premiere conference.
It is dumb but I get it.

The ACC is proposing it as a way to fill their P5 requirement for non con schedules, which the SEC also has. So if Tennessee scheduled A&M it would be replacing a game against an Arizona State, Minnesota, etc. I agree it is dumb though.

If that is the case, then there is no point, unless they are just trying to keep money inside the conference. There is no difference between UVA playing WF and UVA playing Nebraska.

I agree. There's also a disproportionate number of East teams that already fill the P5 requirement with a non con rival- SC UGA UF UK all do, while none of the west teams do. So it would defeat the purpose of trying to play the east schools more often since it would really only be Mizzou UT and Vandy.

So if the ACC schedules Notre Dame and non conf games against each other.
Big 10 has a 9 game schedule
Pac 12 has a 9 game schedule
Big 12 has a 9 game schedule
There could be years when the SEC has difficulty scheduling some of these games.

That would work for lsu fans. Since its not the competition it's that they don't get to travel to Athens or Nashville enough. Finally a solution.

That was my impression as well. It would have no outcome on the conference standings but would obviously impact the opinion of pollsters and strength of schedule just as if you played a team from the Big Ten

That opens up a whole new level of BS for the fans to debate about at the end of the season.
"Yeah, we lost to Vandy, but we scheduled LSU and whooped their arse!"

Your title does not make sense. I assume you mean non-division scheduling within the ACC conference.
